Blade show 2020

If it’s happening I’m going for sure. I make too few knives and do too few knife related things a year. I wanted to test for JS this year but that got cancelled. I don’t want to miss a chance to show my work because I really only get to once a year and I might not be able to go to next years blade.
Depending on how the show goes, I might have some work for you Coop

Wow so many of the top custom makers normally attending not on that list now. Doesnt seem like the Production/factory/supplier list has shrunk much, but yeah custom makers thats pretty much a bust.

Looks like Georgia’s governor just extended the emergency restrictions once again to 7/31. These include bans on 50 people if no distancing is possible. It would be quite reasonable to assume that this will be extended again at the end of month. Somehow I don’t see this show happening......

Yeah on top of that he just made it so Atlanta isn't allowed to require masks in public spaces(e.g. enjoy the maskless hordes at bladeshow!), AND just turned the mammoth convention center in Atlanta into a Covid overflow hospital to handle the expected needs of people catching it from those spreading it around without masks on. If people weren't dying and Blade wasn't gonna be canned for it, this would almost be funny.

The Blade Show in Atlanta is looking to obtain the same level of immortality as the American Legion did in Philadelphia in 1976.

This said: Who ELSE is going? No need to justify, just say so.[/QUOTE]

Well me and my buddy are going.
We will have alcohol wipes, sanitizer and masks on.
We plan to socially distance and stay as safe as possible.

It's getting to the point where decisions on hotels and flights will have to be made.
If you plan on going, please take all necessary precautions.

A much better idea would be to skip it this year. Please consider this. There are a lot of great people in the business, many of whom are seniors at a statistically much higher chance of illness or death. Skip it for them, if not yourselves.

Question for Atlantans: The Cobb County Convention Center has an Atlanta address, but would appear to be outside the city limits. Would that mean the show would not have to comply with any regulations issued by the mayor's office?

the possibility of bringing the virus home from Atlanta to gramma and grampa is also something worth considering

people will be justifiably bummed, but it's for the best. Everyone will start understanding soon enough, unfortunately

credit where credit is due, the Blade Show team did their best to maintain the possibility of the event occurring

Halleluja! I just checked the Blade Show website:

*BLADE SHOW 2020 CANCELLED*
With the 39th annual BLADE Show scheduled for Aug. 7-9, we have been receiving countless questions from exhibitors and attendees about the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) on the show and its guests.

Unfortunately, we have reluctantly come to the conclusion that it’s in the best interest of all concerned to cancel BLADE Show 2020.

Please know that we did not reach this decision lightly. Having been in daily contact with guests, exhibitors, local officials and the show venue for the past two months, it has become apparent that we cannot present a 2020 event that meets exhibitor and attendee expectations and BLADE Show standards.

While the state of Georgia continues to grapple with decisions about new guidelines and restrictions to deal with the pandemic, BLADE Show too recognizes its responsibility to ensure the safety and well-being of all attendees.

BLADE Magazine and the BLADE Show staff appreciate the support we received from our many industry friends who worked with us to plan for the alternate August dates after we were forced to cancel the original June event.

The 40th Annual BLADE Show is scheduled for June 4-6th 2021, at the Cobb Galleria Centre in Atlanta, Georgia.

**CURRENT EXHIBITORS & TICKET HOLDERS: Please check your emails for further instructions**

My life just got MUCH less stressful.

Carry on.

There's a distinct possibility that the 2021 Blade Show could be a blowout too. This is because the new Kung Flu vaccine may turn a huge number of the population into flesh eating zombies and the remaining population will still be in lockdown. Sorry folks. :D

finger crossed THAT doesn't happen!

The only thing MORE disappointing than the cancellation of the Blade Show in 2020...

...would be if they DIDN'T cancel the Blade Show in 2020.

It would have been dreadful in numbers, procedures, and overall experience.

2019 was DYNAMITE. Hold that thought for 2021.
