thanks for the pics Jason! I don't know if it makes not being there less or more painful . . . . .

This is a buddy holding them so you can get an idea of size!

I tried to get them to sell me the HRTmg today at the end of the show . . . no dice!

It was smiles around the house on the HRT Mg. Darrel seemed pretty pleased with the way the knife turned out. The S&W (Taylor) people said that they have been getting a lot of interest in the knife from LEO organizations, and it was nearly impossible to lay hands on it at their counter without waiting for at least one person to put it down.

The only problem was, as stated, that you couldn't buy one for anything. The big fixed blade is another sweet piece. At the $40 price point, a lot of us are going to wind up owning this one.

Some more production fixed blades on the horizon are coming from Spyderco, and they are going to be full-on sweet. There are 3 currently prototyped and tentatively in the pipe for production. Higher quality materials than the Taylor stuff, and Spyderco's production quality. I'm especially excited for the Temperance, slated as third down the line. Sort of a big Calypso blade on a really nice FRN handle.

Nothing new here . . . it was just fun seeing everyone stampede to his table for the 50% off sale!!!</font>

John had a few folders on his table. That's the first time I have seen any Greco folders. Interesting stuff too, traditional springless friction folders made from modern materials.

Great show!!! I had a fantastic time. I managed to buy a few knives first thing Friday and spent much of the weekend meeting formites and hanging out at the various presentations. Tom and Jerry really knocked themselves out for the show and managed to come up with some great knives.

I also, enjoyed meeting Ivan Campos and some of the boys from Brazil. The hobby is in its infancy down there, but, with the energy the guys are putting out, it looks like it's going to develop very fast.

As for, the often repeated topic of who makes the thoughest ____ knife, I managed take a close look at some of the stuff on Farid's table. If unbreakable is what you are looking for then this is your man. Over engineered doesn't begin to do justice to this stuff. The folder scales scales alone were at least 1/4 inch thick, and the edge has been carbide impregnated to produce an mind boggling edge RC of 80. Someone might eventually produce a thougher knife, but, I doubt that I'll be able to carry such a beast.

Well, my photos are not ready instantly since I still use film. But, since I still use film, my pictures will be significantly better.

I'll be posting tomorrow.

In the mean time, Benchmade's new blades are great. Tachyon is looking good. And you're gonna love the other items I have to show you.

I acquired a beautiful Carson model 4 {thanks again David}, 2 Simonich Talonite Blades, another Mayo TNT, an Audra Draper blade, A Limited Anniversary edition Camillus EDC for my son {thanks to their tremendous generosity},and the Distinct Honor of acquiring a prototype blade from our own Jerry Hossom {GaKnife} that he named after me. I was EXTREMELY honored by this.
