Did you say Steak Knife? Mmmmmmmm

I sure hope I make it to Blade in time to see all of those beauties in person before they're gone.

Yep. Two Steak knives. I'm sure you'll see something...

It was sure nice putting a face with a forum name. Crazy how close we grew up, truly is a small world sometimes.

... Plus, I made one for me.

I seem to have acquired the knife in the picture above. I received it in trade from a BF member who referred me to this 2011 post and pointed to that knife as the one he was trading. It has "Fiddleback" on the blade spine and "Andy Roy" on the back of the tang. If I do indeed have knife in the picture, do you remember the blade steel used?

Don't now much about your work. This is the first Fiddleback that I've ever seen or held. It is quite nice, though. I like the weight and balance, and the scale contouring is very comfortable to hold. I'll need to work on getting the convex edge restored. Shouldn't be too hard, though. I'm used to Bark Rivers so I'm familiar with convexing. I do it with different strops and loads, though, instead of sandpaper.

I'm for thinking that one would have been O-1. That is what he was using most in 2011. Nice score!

Thanks to each of you. I didn't really mean to post in a 2011 thread. I was trying to set this up for a PM and just hit the "Post" button without thinking. Good job you saw this.

Congrats on your new knife. That's when a Bushfinger was still a Bushfinger.

You know, I really like the weight on this one, though. And I like handle-heavy knives, esp. fixed blades. It makes the knife sit very securely in my hand when I'm using it, esp. if using it hard. I like that. The more I handle this one, the more it's growing on me. I'm thinking I need to visit the web site and look through the smaller Fiddleback models to see if there's a 3" to 3.25" blade model that'll work for daily carry.

I edc a Handyman, which has a 3.25" blade and I like it a lot. The one I have is 3/32 thick blade with tapered tang, so really light in the handle, but the SFT tang models, particularly in 5/32, have more handle weight.

Thanks... that looks just about perfect. Ad I already have a pocket sheath just waiting for a blade.

OK... new (to me) Fiddleback will be inbound soon. I looked real hard at a couple of Handyman models I found online, but ended up going with a Hiking Buddy from the flea market. I'm overly fond of black & green and the price was right. I have a Diomedes pocket sheath coming that I sized for my Dozier Personal Utility. We'll see how well the HB fits it. I can go up one size if the Baron seems too small. My RFP is a dedicated knife pocket so the larger size sheath won't have any competition if I have to go with the Earl model.

They are very similar is size and each have their fans. I like the HB, I've had a few of them. I happen the like the cross section of the Handyman handle better, others prefer the Hiking Buddy. It's all in personal prefs. I edc mine in an Earl, and for a couple of weeks, and I am very happy with it. This is how it looks.

I was wondering which sheath you had. I saw in another thread that you were using one from Diomedes now and you liked it. That pic above looks just about right. The Baron is the sheath that I have inbound now. Once the HB gets here I'll see how it fits. If it rides too high, I'll go ahead and get the Earl for it. I really like the looks of the Diomedes sheaths and I've found that pocket carrying a FB depends as much (or more) on the sheath as it does on the knife.
