Blade Show reports

Speaking of Jason Knight,

Did anyone here pick up that HUGE (seemed like a 14" L6 blade) chopper on his table, desert ironwood (bead blasted) handles??? It was out of my budget by the time I saw it, sure wish I would have seen that one first. It handled like a dream.

If you got it, please post a pic...

Some disturbing news from the show is that one of Ed Fowlers new fighter models was stolen from his table when he stepped away from it for a few moments. I had few moments to handle this piece at the show with Ed and what a nice piece it is. The knife has the year { 08 } along side of his signature on the tang which is something that he started doing just recently. Also, it is one of the few fighters that he has made making it very easy to recognize. It is also a large piece which should add to the visibility of it. We all know what to do with a thief, right? I will start another thread on this once I get all of the information I can from Ed.
Greg

First Blade show and first time to meet Ed, he deserves better than this, perhaps there are photos that will render it unsaleable anywhere, or the thief will approach someone who knows about the theft and get what he deserves.
Jim

I had a Wonderful Visit with Ed he is generous with his time
That is Awful News I hope it is recovered and that the thief is supremely punished

I went by the Graham Bros's table on Saturday and they told me they brought 60 knives to the show and they all but a few sold on Friday. By the time I talked to them, they had three knives that they were taking offers and going to have a drawing on who gets them. They told me that some folks bought 5-6 knives in one wack. That is a bunch of money from my perspective.

Anyway, it was good to see them and chat a little.

I didn't get it and don't know who did - but I agree that it felt like a terrific handling piece for such a HUGE (you are correct on dimensions) blade.

Jason rocks.

I will post up some pics and info in a new thread - bu tlikely not until tomorrow - completely exhausted, sleep deprived, feet hurt, no voice, grinning like a kid in a candy store.

Roger

Yeah, that thing was crazy. It was heavy and even bigger in person. Could most likely chop a few heads off. :)

Roger,

YES!!! That's the one I can't stop thinking about...

Hey, that's in a hotel room or something --- were you privy to a pre-show look???

Man, unfortunately I was mostly spent when I saw that one, but it's as fine of a long blade as I've handled before. Sure wish I could have gotten it. But i did order an "adventure" version from Jason then and there. I was impressed with Jason and his family as well, I'm hoping to be a return customer...

Thanks for the pic Roger. Maybe the new owner will show it off in it's own thread.

Man I would have loved to have been there! I would have also loved to have seen who stole Ed's knife. Damn that's a cowardly act, wonder if the showroom had any camera's in the ceiling going? This couldn't have happened to a nicer man.

You guys bring up a good point - I think the promoters of the big shows should make sure there is video surveillance of the display/selling areas - would make catching the bastards much easier!!!

Shawn Mc Intrye (sp) won the Peck award and had some great knives. Lin Rhea won the best hunter award. Yah, Lin.:thumbup: Many great makers. Russ Andrews knives were great. Mr John White won best damascus with BgSpecialK's dagger that was posted. Great combo.

Bill

There are surveillance in the Show Hall.

This was one of the busiest Blade Shows I have had the pleasure to attend, and I'm sure maker's sales reflected that.
