Now that I'm finally home I would like to take the time to talk about the two knives that I brought back.

I had time to take some quick photos of Sams piece tonight and will try to get some good shots of Matt's new Fire DA this week.

I liked all of Sam's knives but his Hurac design is a stand out for me. I am on the list for a larger fighter but I have really learned to apreciate a blade that is easier to pack.

The Hurak is a compact stout knife that has been designed to have a very good point on, meaning it is a thruster. The fullness and angle of the grip leave the blade in a very well executed point on position. The blade to handle angle leaves your wrist when thrusting in a very strong position.

Don't get me wrong the blade could slash and even back cut but this piece is a born thruster. The small harpoon clip is very cool and purposefully executed. The handle is full and very comfortable that lends itself to a very secure comfortable feel.

The older I get the more purposefully done I like my knives this one has a Black Micarta handle stainless guard and a blade of maragin steel. This is a new steel to me but the boys from Belgium assure me I will be pleased with its performance

What I like about this blade is the duel use this blade lends itself to. Meaning it will also make a good field knife and this steel supposedly has decent rust resistance.

I could see myself carrying it hunting his coming year

The sheath is very well done and I even got to meet Gustaaf who is the maker, it was truly a pleasure

I have really learned to like horizontal cross draw sheaths and this one is designed very well and the quality is excellent

I would like to give out a big Thanks to Norbert for acting as an intermediator for Sam and I and wish that he could also have attended the show

Merci beau coup Norbert

Here is my Hurak pictured with my new hunting recurve which is an all phenolic ILF riser by Morrison that is sporting a set of BF Extreme limbs

They make a nice pair

A good time was had by all. Joe Paranee, the Atlantic City boardwalk carnival barker/knife pimp even convinced me to buy a FLIPPER of all things!!!!!!:D Top notch work at Blade from all of our old friends as usual and some exciting new stuff too. I don't know much about high end folders, but that new double action piece from the House of Diskin sure seems to be in the same league as ones selling for a lot more money. I bought one of Matt's little bargain knives and I can tell you that I can't see any reason why anyone would pay for some of the inexpensive folders that you see at the big box stores when you can have something like this for the same money. Mssr. Sam wasn't the only one of our friends from the Low Countries that had an interesting show. One of the factory guys from the Boker plant in Argentina IIRC plopped down cash for one of Toni Oostendorp's Bull Shark fighters so that he could show it to the guys back at the home office.

Man, did I ever have a good time!!! I got to see everyone mentioned so far and two or three more. It would have been great to have seen Stevie, but priorities are priorities and Europe trip IS pretty special also.

A word about the Diskin stuff. I got the last two existing V&D scale release in the whole wide world and one of the new Amsterdam models. All dual action scale release and they are nice and priced so right as to be unbelievable. I picked them up to use as gifts................But the new offering from Matt and company is way beyond great as far as quality and price for that quality. Two price levels, same knife, regular carbon fiber and lightning strike CF. Each one operates smooth as silk and feels great in the hand. This is one time that Joey Paranee's hype is not quite enough. I think it is that good!.....and better.

Just pulled into the house about an hour ago. more later when my motor cools.

^^^ To think I 'owned' one of these and gave it back. (See Roger's thread) The price was better than ever, too. ;) Sheesh.

I have the "Amsterdam' model? So VERY cool and tight. He's going to do well.

Joe, thanks as always for making Susan and I feel special. You have that gift. You do this to everyone!
