Who's going to blade show west? I'm thinking about having a barbeque at my home on either the Thursday night before the show, Friday after the show, or Sunday after the show.

Anyone interested? I only live about a 15 minute drive from the show.

I don't have a table at the show, and won't be attending on Saturday, because I have tickets to the Ohio State - Washington Huskies football game up in Seattle. Goooooooooooooooooooo Buckeyes!!!!!

If you're interested, please post here that you'll come and what night would work out best for you. Majority rules on the night chosen.

p.s.
I'm looking forward to meeting many of you that I haven't met yet! Oh, and there will be plenty of beer, meat and stuff.

Come on now guys. Isn't anyone interested in free food, free beer and free knife talk? I'll even have the forge, anvil, etc. out for anyone that wants to forge out one of my 52100 rollers into a blade and take it with them.

Kind of an informal hammer in!

Hey , that sounds good, I might just roll down there for that. Have to see if momma has any plans and what else is going on. Think I even have that Friday off. Are you going to be around Saturday evening and if so are you going to be up for company after the game or is Friday better.

Friday is much better for me. I'm probably going to take the day off and go to the show on Friday. Saturday, I'm leaving early in the morning to make the approximate 3 hour drive to Seattle for the game. We're coming home after the game, but it'll probably be really late before we get home, so Saturday isn't good.

I'll be at the show on Saturday. I'm going to be in WA for work that week and managed to finagle a side trip to Portland. I should be in Portland some time after about 6:30 or 7:00 Friday evening.

Eventually I'll post a map to my house in this thread. You're welcome to come over Friday night.

Scott,

Sounds like it might work. Refresh me, though, what are the dates?

Gene

I'm going to BBQ on Friday, Sept. 14th after the show and will have the forge out for anyone wanting to hammer out a roller.

Ed Fowler and a few of his friends are tentatively coming over on Sunday, Sept. 16th after the show for another BBQ also.

Both evening BBQ's are open to anyone. I have a game room with a pool table for those that like billiards. I can set up a poker table if anyone wants to play Texas Hold'em (I have a nice set of poker chips.) So, there are a bunch of options for your evening entertainment.

You don't really have to choose either, you can come to both BBQ's. I'd love to make it an annual gathering of knife friends!!

Mapquest says that it is 11.5 miles from the Holiday Inn (Blade Show West) top my house. I've attached a map on this post.

Directions to my house:
  • Go east on NE Coumbia Blvd to I-205 N. .7 miles
  • Go North on I-205 to Highway 14 East (towards Camas) 4 miles
  • Take the 164th Avenue Exit (exit 8) off of Highway 14 and turn left at the end of the off ramp, to head north on 164th Avenue 2.6 miles
  • Follow 164th Avenue north to 39th Street (164th Ave. will become 162nd Ave along the way) 3.3 miles
  • Turn right onto NE 39th street and heading east go 1 mile to Ne 33rd Street. (39th Street becomes NE Edmunds RD at the cross section of 172nd Avenue 172nd avenue and NE 39th steet intersection is halfway between 162nd Avenue and my house at N# 33rd Street
  • Turn left onto NE 33rd Street. It's the first house on your right with the white rail fence in the front yard.

The address is:
18111 NE 33rd Street
Vancouver, WA 98682

If you become lost (very doubtful), call me at (330) 284-3103.

I am going to make a real effort to find the time to get down. Would love to see the show and get some ideas and meet some of the locals. I appreciate your offer of a meal and entertainment. Jim

Scott,

I'm glad you bumped the thread so I didn't have to go hunt for it. Barring the unforeseen (late flight, getting lost), I'll be on your doorstep probably around 7:30 Friday night. Thanks for the invitation.

Ickie,
Not sure if I could make either night but I would like to get together with a fellow maker sometime. Getting my shop set up after the move and am itching to beat on some hot steel..

Hopefully you can make it. It's not that far to Salem from my home.

I'd love to have a bunch of people leave here with some 52100 knives to finish out.

Do you have a hammer or press?? I have a lot of 52100 so I would be visiting more than hammerin.

I have a cheap anvil and a hand hammer. I don't have room for a power hammer or a press. If I need a press or a hammer I have two friends that let me use theirs. One of them has a press and the other has a power hammer. The wife and I are talking about looking for a new house with a larger shop, but it's rather expensive right now to try and find what we're looking for.

I basically have bearing rollers welded onto rebar that are the perfect size for one knife.

You can do one of two things. Bring your favorite hammer or.........bring your appetite and keep your hammer hand well rested for lifting and tipping beer bottles.
