How about some news on the Blade Show. I went for quite a few years, but haven't attended lately. I always like to hear about the show, and maybe see some pictures.

I went. The busiest booths seemed to be the flashlights. Kinda confused by that. I had two forges on display and they were both sold in 30 minutes. I saw lots of $1000+ knives, amazing quality. I'll definitely be there next year with more.

I'm not good with flowery details, sorry.

They had the entire Cobb Galleria, no walls or partitions, and the show was sold out. My table was in the middle of the show so it took a little while for the mobs to really filter in to me, but once they did it was bananas. We had a really good Saturday. It was pretty loud, so my voice still hasn't fully recovered.

I don't know what the hell the deal is with the broken escalators, elevators, air conditioning and vending machines there? You could go downstairs, but to get back in you had to go outside and come back in from outside of the building?

They separated the booths from the tables this year. Having seen it both ways I think I liked it better with them mixed up.

It's a hell of a show and I think they did a good job with it.

I got to meet lots of really cool people, inlcuding Nathan, Nick Wheeler, Travis Wuertz, Mike Quesenbery, Ron Newton and many many more that I can't remember right now. This was my first year at Blade, and it was a little smaller than what I was expecting. The only other major trade show I go to is SHOT and Blade is maybe 10% the size of SHOT. I'm really looking forward to going back to Blade next year.

Hell of a show! Very Busy this year! Wouldn't miss it! Having to talk over the noisy buzz killed my throat, now I'm fighting a bad infection!

Nathan, sorry we didn't connect again this year! I like the booths and tables separated, feels more like a custom knife show surrounded buy a trade show. Every other maker I talked to about the new lay out really liked it.

Jo or Cari came by your table and met Kyle, I tried to make it over there (like I was walking over there and someone literally grabbed me). Next year...

Thanks lastbrunneg, I just checked "Custom and Handmade forum" out. Beautiful pictures. I notice you are in Albuquerque. My Daughter used to live there.

Neato, did she like it? I've lived here my whole life, I've never visited Carlsbad though, not even to see the caverns.

Yes, my Daughter liked Albuquerque, and her husband was raised there. We enjoyed visiting Albuquerque, going to the State Fair, twice I had a table at a Gun and Knife Show, etc.
You ought to visit Carlsbad. The Caverns are one of the worlds 7 wonders.

Excellent show, very busy as usual. And yes my wife and I both have some kind respiratory virus. It was going around there unfortunately. But at least it held off till Teusday when we were home. So many people and so many knives I did not get to see.

You, too, Brion?
I swear I almost went to the Emergency Room on Friday night.
I couldn't breath. I've lost my voice, etc.
Nasty one.

And you and I were neighbors.

If there was that high of an incidence on respiratory illness, maybe somebody should contact the venue or public health.

I'm thinking the air conditioning is contaminated.

Worst sore throat I ever had, still fighting it. Wonder how may others got it?

I just thought I talked too much. But it's been a week and I'm still getting over it. Now I'm wondering if it was the Blade Show funk...

...Blade Show Funk...

Symptoms include: sore throat, loss of voice, irrational urge to stab things, loss of impulse control leading to alcohol consumption and large unplanned purchases.

I have had the entire list of symptoms - not only soar throat, but nearly complete loss of voice.
Full chest congestion.
Head cold - sinus blockage.
Fever.
I mean literally off my feet Friday and yesterday.

I did learn that those "Breathe Right" strips are pretty cool!
