Also, would like to point out that I have made heavier duty blades from steels that are not known for toughness, with a much thicker edge geometry, and they do stand up to significant abuse, but it defeats the purpose of using those steels. (Like a big ol' clip point in .225" thick S110V...overly expensive, thicker behind the edge, but can definitely chop well, but no better than same blade in 4V or 3V.)
long story longer, I choose to use high wear resistant steels for the knives I make in the designs I make, because that is what they excel at.
