Blade-Tech ULU

It's a kinda cool design. I can't really see the value of it as a folder, I'd think it would be better as a dedicated kitchen fixed blade.

A folding pizza cutter! Man, I could have really used that back-in-the-day when I was in college! :) And the price is pretty decent too. I love to see really innovative cutlery, so thanks, CP, for posting the link. It's odd-looking, but so are Green River Skinners, Buck Cross-locks, and Leatherman PST's (when they first came out). Odd is good, especially if there's a reason for it! I could and would EDC that thing if I could get it to take a decent edge.

It's primary use would be as a skinner. There are quite a few hunters who use ulus for that purpose. I own several. My real question is whether the locking mechanism is secure on this design. Back 8 years ago you would hear a lot about the Turner Uluchet. http://www2.silverstar.com/turnermfg/ A couple years back Knives of Alaska started making a hunter's ulu.

The sliding blade feature is interesting. 3.5mm thick blade seems excessive. I kinda like the idea even if I have no real use for it.

I handled a proto at the Eugene OR knifeshow in April. Seemed like a real working tool. If I recall correctly , I was told it's main use is as an ULU but can be used as a regular knife too :) It felt good in the hand and the fit and finish looked great.

I checked with New Graham and they are still waiting for them but I think they would make nice little camp tool!

Thank you all for your great comments about my design. I would like to pass a couple of these around so that you all may try them out...They are strong and both lock positions are very secure.

I retract my previous statement. In my haste, I didn't look at the pics well enough to realize that the blade could slide and the knife turn into a more traditional ULU.

That is very cool and innovative.

Please put me down for a passaround. Any idea when these will be hitting resellers? That orange is smokin!!:thumbup:
