BladeForums 2024 Traditional Knife

I have not yet. I've got a cold steel and a utility knife during the work day. The traditionals tend to be my weekend/ church knives so i'm still waiting to pocket it. But I intend to get this one nice and dirty for sure. I ordered a slip for it. Hopefully it arrives fast.
Good! I'm almost to the point of committing to use mine as well. I'll probably start with cutting some fruit to get started on protecting the blades.

Well I finally gave in and dyed mine dark after my previous lighter attempts would inevitably fade back to off-white. I think I’m done messing with this one and going to let natural patina and age take over.

Great color! What dye did you use? I know you dyed it more than once, but what is the latest color you used?

Yep this was about 4 different tries, I started with bismark brown, then a mix of mahogany and oxblood. That got me a medium cherry red which was lighter than I was going for, so I finished off with a heavy coat of dark brown that deepened everything up. All angelus dyes. I’m sure some of those lighter red tones will show up in highlights over the years.

These would have sold out fast if they had looked like this from GEC. Great job !
Fast er...maybe but the other stumbling blocks were its large size and the price...major factors...but boy did it sort out The Porchenbergers from the tourists. You know the type...they roll into town...loaded with cash...but they don't dine at McMeakos...They go to some fancypants 5star gourmet place over in Flipperton..
And that my friends is authentic Porch bitchiness.🧐

I'm new to this clubhouse. I'm not familiar with the porch references I've seen about. Care to help a fella out?

I'll try a short version.

In the past folks would gather on the porch(like an outside room but open, usually connected to the front or back of a house) for friendly verbal exchange.

If you disagreed, that is fine, no one fires back or makes a big deal...agree to disagree. This forum is likened to a porch by members here.

You are able to bitch and moan and make fun of and about things, like flippers. Flippers have caused a lot of hard feelings with porch members and are not seen in a good light.
