BladeForums 2024 Traditional Knife

I have only viewed this thread a couple times since placing my order. Truthfully, I'd forgotten about it ... AGAIN ... until I opened this thread. Being an old fart and forgetful sometimes has its benefits ... SURPRISES when you do remember things.

That said, has the knife design changed in the last couple months? Is the design and coloring still this?

Last thing I remember, the only thing left to be decided in the design was the shield. Is this still the case? Thx

That's the knife that will be delivered.

What information are you wanting to be shared that hasn’t been?

Spark doesn’t have the knives yet so he can’t answer when are they going to ship.

Unless I’m mistaken pictures of the knives showing the shield and handle colors have been posted… so I’m confused about what information hasn’t been shared.
I'm not asking for information, I'm just waiting.

However, it appears that some folks feel like they're out of the loop, and I can empathize with them on the basis that ordering a BF knife is nothing at all like what people have been trained to expect from modern e-commerce practices and a pervasive culture of instant gratification.

If it was me, I'd probably post a bi-monthly update - even if it was just "knives are still in production. Nothing to report." as a way to cut down on the useless "hey, I haven't heard anything lately" posts and the equally useless replies insinuating that the poster is a distrusting and impatient child or a member of the locust family. But that's just me speaking from my professional experience of managing similar situations. 🤷

I guess it's ultimately a selfish desire because, every time I see this thread pop to the top of the stack, I'm hoping it's for something about the knife and not just some poor, confused soul wondering what's going on with his ¼ of a grand purchase.

Perhaps if they paid attention to this thread they wouldn't feel that way.

Update: I've been informed that there are 25-30 seconds and 25 or so with "different" handle materials that have been produced. I will provide pictures and pricing when possible.

Looks like we're getting close!

Maybe the distrusting and impatient children who have rightly earned those titles should direct their ire towards GEC... Spark can't ship what he doesn't have.

I got mine in weeks ago

Here let me eat popcorn with it.

Sure! Thanks!

Eloquently put.

BUT I WANNA KNOW NOWWWWWA..!!.

If it's information everyone wants, here's some information for you guys/gals/youngsters:

I knew a gal who worked in the Dragon Bar in Saitozaki, Japan back in the 1960s who had a glass eye. In the Dragon Bar they didn't have tables - only the bar or booths. Her glass eye was on the right side so she preferred to sit with her right side to the wall in a booth - kinda prevented anyone from sneaking up on her blind side.
Additional information for those interested:

A little-known bird fact is that some species of birds, like the Clark's nutcracker, have an incredible memory. These birds can hide up to 30,000 seeds each year in different locations to survive the winter, and they are able to remember the exact locations of most of their caches months later. This extraordinary memory is essential for their survival, and scientists believe it is linked to the size and complexity of their hippocampus, the brain region responsible for memory.

I’ll play:

It’s impossible to hum while holding your nose.

I live 100 miles from a good dealer that is known for fast shipping. I am very spoiled..... I want it now. LOL No., I can wait for the knife. I just thought there were a few issues to be decided yet, like the style of the nail nicks etc.

Defining close would go a long way.
If the all but completed scales/bolsters that were shown a week before the 10/31 post (now 1 month ago) were examples taken from the production run I would have expected finished knives by now, wouldn't you? Especially since there is a known quantity of seconds from the run since 10/31 or earlier. How can you know that before all the parts are ready for assembly, if not assembled?

I pay attention, I'm not impatient, nothing has been promised that hasn't been delivered, and I have no doubt we will get what we paid for. That said, you can count me in the camp that would like a little more info, if for no other reason than to feel more like a valued part of an experience rather than just the some customer being a nuisance if he wants an update on his purchase every month or so.

Those would be questions for GEC to answer.

If Spark had any additional information/updates I’m sure that would have already been posted… Spark can’t provide what GEC isn’t providing.
