As Roger stated in the contest opening thread, he and I communicated last month and decided that a plaque for the winner would be a nice addition to an already great yearly thread. I spoke earlier today with Bruce and notified him of the award. He was very gracious and promised to post a pic after it arrives. The award is currently being inscribed and I'll get it on its way to Walla Walla asap. Here is a cgi from the award website:

Congratulations Bruce, well deserved! your creation is really wonderful! All the pieces where beautiful, and I'm glad to be part of it. I did'nt voted, because I wanna to see where it was going, and I'm very satisfied with the discussion it started and the results. I was very honored by all the samples of my work submitted, but in my oppinion, maybe just the Agra fighter could fit in the "Bowie" category...
Congratulations to all of you, my brothers, keep up the good work!

All the best!

Congrats Bruce, Beautiful piece and well deserved of the best Bowie honor. It was a great contest with many outstanding pieces. Many thanks to Roger and Lorien. :thumbup::thumbup:

Very kind of you :thumbup:

Thanks again everybody. David the Plaque is the icing on the cake for this exciting contest. I appreciate it more than words can express.

Rodrigo, I've been a huge fan of you and your work since you first appeared here. To be neck and neck with you in this race has been exciting to say the least. I really feel that if you stretch out the guard and change the name next year I'm in big trouble!
It was great fun Brother.

congratulations Bruce, Incredible Work :thumbup:

And to ALL the entries. Awesome Knives:thumbup:

Congratulations, Bruce. To come out on top with the competition this year is something to be proud of and well deserved. It's knives like yours that inspire the rest of us to keep improving our own work.

Congrats Bruce on back to back wins! Well deserved!
Congrats Mr. Bump
Now you gotta go for the Three-Peat!!!!:thumbup:;)

When you guys settle on a definition of a Bowie Knife
You should forward your results to the Texas Legislature :eek:
It seems odd that a Bowie Knife is illegal, yet, there is no definition??:confused:
(6) "Illegal knife" means a:
(A) knife with a blade over five and one-half inches;
(B) hand instrument designed to cut or stab another by being thrown;
(C) dagger, including but not limited to a dirk, stiletto, and poniard;
(D) bowie knife;
(E) sword; or
(F) spear.

I'd love to have Texas' knife law! Looks to me like you can carry a fixed (non-dagger) blade under 5.5" or about any non-auto folder without a dagger blade. In Illinois, even a slippy with a 3" wharncliffe blade will be confiscated, even though the blade limit is supposedly 3".

So many great knives displayed. Was a joy being able to see them all and am appreciative that this thread draws them out into a concise viewing venue each year.

Congratulations Bruce and Murray! Thank you Roger and Lorien!

David, the award is a nice touch.

I'll go out on a limb here, and speak for the both of us when I say 'it was our pleasure'! (mostly Roger's- he did all the work:))

That's a sturdy limb Lorien, I enjoy this thread as much as anyone else and really appreciated your help.

David - that plaque looks terrific! Thanks again for the great idea and for the contribution.

Roger
