BladeForums BEST BOWIE - 2012 - Voting Closed - Finalists Selected!

Yep - something looks like fish and smells like fish here. I'm pretty sure we're in the presence of fish. Quit it guys. Try to respect the spirit of what is supposed to be a fun and fair event. Posts 215 and 217 will not be counted.

Thanks to David for raisng this and to others who PMed and e-mailed me.

What a shame, that we can't have fun Holiday contest without these shenanigans.
The above is pretty blatant, however there's probably more subtle tricks/deals/negotiating for votes going on behind the scenes than one would think.
Pretty sad actually!

Hello all,

I read this forum for a long time now within felling the need to register, today for me, was the good day.

As I make my choice, in click on "be the first of your friend to like this on facebook", it's there on purpose no?

So, one of my friend seem to quote my post, I'm sorry for this, don't want to hurt anybodies feeling.

There's no need to see a fishing, craping, cheating or illuminati's thing here^^

I hope I can enjoy, learn and share with/from you.

See ya.

Well, after looking at this bowie fest ( more than a few times ), I am totally gobsmacked to say the least. I would like to vote on more than the list below but I am sure that it would be the biggest list ever without a doubt. I will be coming back to this over the next year just for inspiration. Now I must go and have a pink one and a lay down and its only 8 am here.

Post 2 #1 Dave Lisch, Fighting Dragons. Fanbloodytastic!

Post 3 #1 Kyle Royer, Blue Ivory Bowie. Wow!

Post 6 # 3 Wieland, The Guardian. Stunning!

Post 9 #1 Jason Knight, Best Bowie 2012. No doubt about that!

Post 21 #2 John White, Nihonshiki Bowie. Fusion rocks!

Post 25 #4 Mike Queensbury/Dave Lisch, Collaboration. Absolutely perfect.
Cheers Keith

Unfortunate it may be, we could reduce this to almost nothing by requiring that voters have at least 5 posts before being counted in this poll.

Best Regards,

I like to weight in aesthetics, ergonomics, fit/finish, execution, material selection and degree of difficulty in my choices. Basically seeking the knives that represent high art and abundance of skill from the maker, however built to perform to function to the highest degree.

Post 6/#1 – Wieland, Toruk

Post 21/#1- John White, “Old Glory” D Guard Bowie

Post 70/#1 – Michael Ruth Jr, Ladder Damascus and Stag Bowie

Lorien and I will knock heads and see what else needs cleaning up. And I will certainly look closely at low post count entries going forward. Any ideas on how to address this kind of thing in the final voting stage by poll, I'm all ears.

My sincere thanks to the vast majority of you who participate in this event in the spirit in which it was intended.

Call in the Moderators...!!!

Wait, wut? ;)

This is so hard for me to choose with so many fantastic knives. I have given this a lot of thought and decided to vote for knives and makers where my dollars have gone to.

22/2 Bruce Bump Hideout

25/1 Kyle Royer Shadow of the West

25/3 Tad Lynch Subhilt

69/1 Mike Quesenberry Coffin Handle

73/1 John Doyle This Bowie is so light and fast for a long knife

99/2 Lin Rhea a real thing of beauty

118/4 Bud Richards "Crowfoot"

This is my vote. Purely because of the blade design. As soon as I saw this I wanted to own it..

The work in this thread is amazing and the beauty shown in creating guards by makers here is truly spectacular.

There are many blades that demonstrate a higher level of detail and much more intricately designed handles IMO but this blade speaks to me.

I pretty much stayed true to my likes and dislikes which are personal as far as taste.
This approach alsoo allowed me to be more focused considering the incredible number of exquisite knives being nominated.
Nothing too fancy for me in the way of embellishment. I really like a get down and dirty no frills, great curvy no nonsense fighter.
Except for the tastefully embellished John White small damascus fighter I stayed on mark....

Thank you Roger and Lorien! Lots of fun this year!
