Happy Holidays to all.

Computer problems are limiting my ability to post up the full rules, but you all should know them by now. I will cut and paste from the 2012 thread when I get things sorted out.

Until then, let's see your faves from 2013!

What types of knives are included?

This is NOT an attempt to define the bowie knife in either historic or contemporary terms. While I appreciate that people have strong feelings on the subject, no-one is in possession of a conclusive, exhaustive and universally-accepted definition. As with all past years, bowies, fighters, camp knives and generally any fixed blade that meets the size requirements are welcome to be included amongst the nominees. Both stock removal and forged blades are equally welcome. Daggers are excluded, as are Khukuris and traditional Tantos.

Requirements are:

1) Blade length 6" and up.

2) Knife must have been made or first shown on Bladeforums in 2013.

3) Must be a custom knife.

PLEASE DO: number each knife in each post, starting with the number 1.

PLEASE DO NOT quote earlier posts and reproduce the images contained therein (this really messes up the voting for finalists.

Nominate as many as you like!

Here are a couple to get started:

1. Jerry Fisk Way of St. James:

2. Lin Rhea Gibeon Bowie

Here's one that immediately comes to mind; I will be back with more after time to go through my files.

#1-Mike Ruth Jr “Moran” Fighter - Mike created this fighter, with his rendition of Bill Moran’s ST-24 blade, as homage to Bill.

4. Doyle Cowboy Bowie. No pro pic on this one, but it has the added benefit of actually being MINE :)

5. Crackle Ivory Hanson Fighter. Whatever part of me wasn't committed to making next year's Little Rock show was stabbed repeatedly by images of this one running through my head.

6. Blue mammoth Hanson Sticker read above

Great stuff right out of the gates, gents. I was going to add in the Bump Roy Bean, but it's already there. I have a good few more knives in mind but will wait to see if the owners post them up. And yes, Virginian's awesome Fuegen is in that group.

Two notes:

1) Dave Crawford has kindly offered to again sponsor an engraved plaque for the maker of the winning knife.

2) Lorien, if you are able to assist again this year as you have done in the past, I would be most grateful.

Carry on all!

#1 Mike Ruth Jr.

#2 Mike Quesenberry (Made a few years ago but I don't think it has been shown on this forum in the past until I recently got it Cooped.) Its up to Roger, Lorien and the judges to count this one or not.

I have already used up my five votes and we are not even off the first page.

sure thing, Roger :)

I'll just take a sec here to note that daggers traditionally are not part of this thing.

Also, I have collected as many images as I could of bowies made in 2013 and once I get them uploaded to my photobucket, I'll post a link here. Hopefully some time later today.

Correct. Daggers, Khukris and Tantos are out, as in years past.

My fault for not being able to get the rules up in their entirety at the outset, but with the early calls of "Where's the Best Bowie thread?" ringing in my ears, I thought it best to get things rolling. I am back-filling my opening post periodically.
