Some great submissions here. Nominations are now closed. We are now voting for finalists!

I've copied the same guidelines from the best Bowie thread.

1) Each member may submit up to 7 suggested finalists. You don't have to submit as many as 7, but don't submit any more than 7.

2) Please include the post number where your selected knife can be found, and the number of the knife within that post if more than one knife is presented therein - this will help clear up any uncertainty in the case where there are multiple knives by a given maker among the initial entries. For example - a say post number 30 has 4 knives. You want the third. Put "Post 30, #3". AND DON'T FORGET TO INCLUDE THE NAME OF THE MAKER!

3) Your order or selection doesn't matter - one vote per knife up to seven, each vote counts.

4) Please try to include a few words about what appeals to you about any given selection. THIS is what makes the selection process most interesting.

5) When all votes are in, we add up the numbers (each time a knife is put forward by someone as a finalist, that effectively counts as one vote for that knife) and the top 5 will be voted on by polll in a new thread.

Here are my choices... It was very tough to decide, but I would love to carry any one of these in the field.

Post 5-1 James Rodebaugh - beautirul handle material, perfect domed pins, and great damascus.

Post 20-3 Cody Hofsommer - i just love the stag on this one, and the scalloped guard is great.

Post 26-1 John Doyle - there is so much to look at here, but I'm definitely a sucker for a nice koa handle.

Post 38-1 Adam Desrosiers - the integral bolster flows perfectly into the beautiful damascus pattern.

Post 40-4 Schuyler Lovestrand - the curves on this knife are just beautiful. It looks like it would melt into your hand.

Post 42-1 Stephen Fowler - this would be a perfect hunter for the field. The stag is timeless and classy

Unlike the Bowie thread, I see hunters as users. All of the knives I chose were primarily chosen based on appearance of usability, profile, ergonomics, with esthetics narrowing down the field. I don’t see a dud in the entire group, but I can see how some have that little extra reflecting makers who understand exceptionally well how these knives should work.

Post 5, pic 1. James Rodebaugh. I like everything about this one. Steel, engraving, handle materials. Love it, my favorite in this thread,

Post 25, pic 1. John Doyle. I love the forced Patina and how it compliments the dark handle material.

Post 27, knife 7, Karl B. Anderson. Which one to choose? I went with Bakelite just because it’s cool.

Post 31, pic 3. Jerry Fisk deluxe Amber Stag Sendero. They’re all great, but the stag makes this one stand out. The knife above almost got the nod, but I changed my mind back.

Post 43, pic2, Eli Jensen. This is the knife I would put in my pocket every day,

Post 42, pic 1. Stephen Fowler. I love the profile and stag. Stag is a bit thin up front, but the rest of the package makes up for it.

Post 40, pic 5. Sean O’Hare. Classic useable design. Very well executed.

There are some great knives here, and some are really nice, but don't meet MY idea of a hunter. Case in point...

Ben Seward Post 41 knife 2
Really awesome knife, but I don't like a hunter with a double guard and such a long clip. But I like to much not to vote for it so I'll make an exception on this one.

Doyle Post 26 knife 1.
John always makes a great hunter, but I favor his guarded ones over his signature guardless. This one does it for me.

Karl Andersen Post 30 knife 1
Karl makes a killer hunter!

Karl Andersen Post 30 knife 2
If we could marry the wood on this with the damascus on the first one it would be even better.

Aldrich Post 10 knife 3
CLEAN-CLEAN perfect and clean!

Fisk Post 24 knife 1
Several Great Fisk knives, but this one is my fav.

DesRosiers Post 38 knife 2
Really want to combine the damascus of the fist with the handle of this one, but this one finally won out.
