Without making any promises, we are looking at having one made available by Christmas this year. Pieces will probably be limited to however many we have demand for, which at the price of a Sebenza, will most likely be around 30.

What I would like to know is what designs you would like on it, and how many of you would seriously buy one. Cost would probably be around what a decorated Sebenza sells for, just to give you an idea.

If you have any design ideas, or are interested in purchasing one when they are available, please let us know either in this thread, or at sebenza@bladeforums.com

Again, this project is still in the "idea" stage, so we're not promising anything yet. We just want to know what kind of response there would be if we did offer one.

I've been toying with the idea of buying a Sebenza for quite a while, and a special BFC version would probably be just the "nudge" that I needed to take the plunge. However, I would definitely prefer that any markings indicating the association with BFC be small and subtle, rather than the large blade etchings that were featured on the blue Native and the Sifu. I love both of those knives and I think that they were a great value, but I think a blade like the Sebbie calls for a more understated approach. I'd like to see a decoration that is unique to the BladeForums version but which does not resemble a billboard…perhaps accompanied by a small "BFC" or similar logo etched on the inside of the frame. Something similar to what Darrel Ralph did with the "Millennium Apogees" would be very nice. I'm certainly not trying to play down the BFC connection, I just think that a knife as elegant (and pricey) as the Sebenza calls for a more refined appearance…

If given a choice between the various configurations and sizes of Sebenzas, I would prefer to go with the standard large (decorated) model…it just strikes me as the quintessential version of this knife. Definitely put me down for one if the project come together…

I should have said this in the initial post, my apologies... the BladeForums.com markings would in all likelihood be on the handle itself, instead of the blade. I've been leaning towards BladeForums.com engraved in the handle itself (with the engraved area blue anodized), with some of the traditional Chris Reeve styling (swooshes, lines, stars, whatever) surrouding it. Something simple and elegant at the same time.

FWIW, I'm with Jim in his call for a refined appearance. My vote would be for a unique design pattern positioned as usual with small BF markings on the reverse (lock) side.

I would be interested in purchasing a BladeForums Sebenza, especially if it featured a blade profile unavailable elsewhere. Perhaps a Wharncliffe.

I would be interested if the following were possible
  1. The BF identification was very small on the locking bar side, just like the CR is on the front. Just the letters BF would suffice.
  2. We get to see the pattern for the front decoration in the design process and be able to comment and make suggestions on any changes (by way off poll; e.g- should the big green swish stay or go ? YES, NO).[/list=a]

Now for the biggest one :
    • It has to be available to INTERNATIONAL members

My vote goes to the Small Sebenza, plain (not decorated) with only the BF logo on the handle).

I for one, would like to see this knife with a fighter style blade like the LDC-9. I think that Mike could probably convince Chris Reeves to make a Sebenza like that

.

My $0.02: a large Sebenza with clip point blade, simple engraving on the front side and the Bladeforums engraved on the backside around the pivot like how the new "Classic" knives are done.

I want one.

I vote for small
I like the LDC style Blade
I like lots of swooshes

The first question the comes to mind is can members outside of US (like us Canadian) buy one of these?

I would buy one if it was a numbered series, dibs on #20. A mark similar to the “Classic” is a good idea, or a simple “BFC-xx” on the handle below the pivot pin, a la LDC, would be nice. Perhaps a non anodized handle design, as on the NICA Tanto Sebenza.

Kevin,
Small Sebenza
non anodized handle design
Numbered Series of 50 (maybe 35)
LDC-9 Polished Blade
Palm Tree (with a full moon)
BFC-XX on front handle (under palm tree)
Dual thumb studs
polished screws
Available Left Handed (for Mitch and me)
Engraving (optional $25)
Price $375 (no more)
Would be a great Chrismas gift
I want #11

How about one with an unique blade shape that from a distance you can tell that is a Blade Forums 2000 knife…count me in too!

Large Sebenza, LDC-9 blade, wood inserts. Must stop drooling & start saving money for it
