The CSC model will be great. Unique... And bocote is a beautiful wood. Looking forward to this one.

The choice here is based on Bocote being the material for the handles.
CSC has a supply of the material, and can provide it at a good price.
GEC is willing to give us jigged bone, because they do it in house.
Both companies are with the program!!
Let us not forget custom/modern materials will up the price significantly!
The goal here is to make a nice knife available to the majority of those who enjoy these forums and participate. I personally like toting a Forum knife around because it gives me a reminder of the brotherhood/sisterhood we share here.
I hate it when someone cannot afford that!
It may not be a knife I would have made as a custom, but I will be proud to carry it because it'll be a badge of membership with you all.
And make no mistake! It will be a well made knife, no matter what it turns out to be!!

Excellent post!

OK that's it then, Bocote it is and no other wood choices, let alone micarta.

I thought the wording was 'fancy wood' and the mock-up had Bocote scales so we could see what the knife might look like?

Anyway it's clear now. Let's proceed and looking forward to the finished item.

Regards, Will.

Charlie, I couldn't have said it better in all these, what, going on 9 years of these? That is the most eloquent reason, the one that best describes why we do this and how we feel. I show my forum knife proudly and no matter where it's posted it's proudly proclaimed to be a BFC traditional forum knife.

This gave changed a lot from the first serial #rd forum knife, (which happened to be a CSC Ring Opener) to the CSC offering this time around.

I've been pleased with all the forum knives even ones there have been issues with, I've kept them all. :)

My votes for Canal Street.. looks sick.
Is the second blade on it still up in the air? Mini-hawkbill?..just sayin.....
:)
Both look great though!!

The original poll has the following

Canal Street's proposal has no bolsters (Barehead), and fancy wood handles.
Option: We can have a different shield if we choose this knife.
\\

It appears that "fancy wood handles" means Bocote wood. I also thought that there would be some discussion about the wood choice, but that is apparently not the case. Luckily, Bocote is an excellent handle material.

Both knives would be winners, in my book, but I have to admit, I prefer the GEC. I voted for it, knowing I wouldn't get it, but that's okay. I'm still happy with the CSC knife, and have been ecstatic with the arrival of each BF Traditional I've received. This one will make six.

Thanks, Charlie, and all who are helping out this year!

Even though I know it won't win, my vote is for GEC, mainly in hopes they'll make it anyway. I'm sure the CSC will be a fine knife, and a first for me - I'm in for a couple regardless.

I voted CS, but the more I look at the two I really like the GEC. I think if they had actually made a knife, instead of just the drawing, they would have had a lot closer vote. I hope they go ahead and make the GEC also.

I like both and would purchase either that wins. I hope that the GEC is made just as it is in the pictue so that way I can get both.

Dave

I voted for the Canal Street - it is very old-timey looking and I just like the way it looks.

The GEC is a fine choice as well, but you have to make a choice.

The last few GEC's have been awesome, and I am sure they will ALWAYS be a strong runner for our Annual Traditional.

Thanks for the leg work, Charlie!

best

I'm with at Andy. As much as I love my GECs (dearly), CSC got my vote too. It will be my first knife by them. The owner, with whom I chatted up at Blade, is a very nice fellow.
