Sorry if this is discussed in another thread - no search option for non paying members so I can't scope it out before posting. Hate to use my first post up on a question like this after months of browsing threads for info, but I gotta ask:

I'm just wondering what type of experience people have had ordering from this place? I placed an order with him last Thursday and selected 1 to 2 day shipping for an extra $10 bucks or so, and I entered the wrong credit card info so my card wouldn't run through - my fault. Problem is I didn't recieve notification from him that my card didn't run until Monday (the day I expected delivery at the latest). His e-mail said they had all been sick and had gotten behind, so I figured fine I'll call with the right info and give them a chance to ship the thing off. I left a message on the number he included in his e-mail Monday early afternoon - their answering machine says they will call back within 24 hrs. After 24 hrs, I called again on Tuesday and left yet another message, both saying that I would like to get the right info to him and get the shipment on the road. When I hadn't recieved a return call mid morning this morning, I e-mailed to tell him to cancel the order because I want the knife for this weekend and would have to pick it up somewhere else.

The guy has a decent site set up with good selection and competitive pricing. Is this the norm as far as his customer service goes or did I just have an unlucky order? Any time I see good prices on good knives I'm inclined to jump on them...but saving $20 here and $10 there isn't worth wondering if I'm going to get my shipment on time and not being able to confirm by a company listed phone number that it is on its way.

Go to "The Good, The Bad, The Ugly" sub-forum and repost yer questions/comments; you'll get good responses from there too!

Cam, who runs Blade HQ, is a member here. He usually seems reasonable to deal with to me, and he will likely come along to address this.
all da best,
rats...

Thanks guys - posted in good bad ugly sub forum also.

Added: For the record, I understand sometimes timing just aint right and even a good company can look bad to a given customer. I'm not trying to flame the guy - just asking if it's an isolated case or business as usual.

jimtwooneeightfive,
Your post doesn't look "flamey" to me; just a legit question. If Cam and staff were all sick, you may have dodged a bio-bullet; that is whatever made them all sick (unless is was the chili :D ) might have made the trip with the knife.

sounds like an isolated case, i buy from bladehq often and they have always gotten my stuff to me promptly and without trouble.

Welcome to BFC.

Please read the sticky at the top of the General Discussion forum. The discussion forums are not the place for this type of post.

My fault there bastid - this is a double thread now that you have moved it to good bad ugly, may want to delete one of them.

We do not delete threads at BFC, but I will merge it.
BTW.
Call me Gus. :D.

Edited to add.

Since the other thead is a duplicate cut and paste and there are no responses. Yup, that one can be closed. :).
Anyway, I hope you end up enjoying this place at least as much as I do.

I only have good things to say about BladeHQ. They sell automatic knives, no questions asked. I bought several times from them and never had a problem, including when I had a refund because they had run out of stock.

BladeHQ is one of the few places I can actually order something and not worry my little head about :D. In the case of a rare screw up, Cam makes it right.

I'm a little curious as to the motivation for your post. In your last email you told us how many knives you typically buy in a year and made it clear you wouldn't be purchasing any of them with us. That was fine- I apologized and told you I understood. What do you want to accomplish here? Are you going to give us another chance? :)

In any event- this situation is the exception, not the rule. We've been understaffed and our communication has been slower than usual (to be fair I think all emails have been replied to in 24 hours or less). We plan to address this issue by eating more vegetables.

Usually? Humph! ;)

Cam's a great guy, and Blade HQ/ Blade Play always ships my order same day as long as it comes in before, what, 12:00 their time. And if not the same day, the next day for sure. Overnighted for only 10 bucks more, emails replied to within waaaaay less than 24 hours...nice websites design, and is updated constantly-not one of those where you don't know if it's in stock or not-Nope, don't work for them. They're IMO, THE BEST online dealer.

To be honest, after recieving no responce to either of my phone calls I was surpirsed to get an e-mail back from you. I ended up going to a local distributer who happened to have a few of that BM I ordered in his display case (no one has them in stock on line), and I paid almost enough to have gotten two of them from you. After limping home and pouring some quick clot on my wallet, I foolishly showed my purchase to a little brother who has a birthday coming up. His hinting was less than subtle. Realizing I was going to have to buy another one, I thought it may be prudent to do a little background check before re-opening my wallet's wounds, and this seemed to be the place to do it.

So in short, yeah - based on the reviews here I'd like to resubmit my order, maybe even with a credit card that exists this time.

Update - Have been in touch with Cam via e-mail and have placed another order with bladehq. Sounds like a stand up guy from his e-mails, so most likely was just a black swan of an order. Glad these forums were available - kept me from writing off what is looking more and more like a good knife buying resource. Will update again if current order goes smooth.

I've orderd from Cam a dozen times or more. A good thing about Cam and his businesses is they stock what they sell almost all the time unless it just happens to have been sold out before replacements came in. I live In Reno, Nevada so Cam's businesses are right next door but I have to say I've never seen faster shipping in my life when the item is in stock. I have had several instances where my knife/knives were delivered the second day ater I ordered them. I was very surprised the first time that happened and amazed the subsequent times.

Another great story, I happen to get my Mini Manix from them for the typical online price when they were still in production, just a few months ago. I called ahead to make sure the "in stock" listing was still accurate, fully expecting them to say it isn't like all other places. To my surprise the answer was "yes, it's the last one." I bought it immediately, had in my mailbox 3 days later and the knife itself happened to be a perfect Spyderco. Everything about the knife was spot on.
