BladeHQ - Same Day Fulfillment?

My results with BHQ shipping has been the same... Slow.
DLT and KnifeCenter are ridiculously fast.
Since BladeHQ has jeopardized my CC information (and that of thousands of their customers) about a year ago, and kept hush-hush about it, they are on my no-go list. Sayonara, Arrivederci, Auf Wiedersehen, Hasta Luego, Bye-bye.

FWIW, 5 days ago I ordered a Becker from J Jordan@DLT , it arrived today. In Alaska. WOW! Jordan rocks.

I've been lucky I guess. I've ordered over a dozen knives from BHQ in the past two years and everything has been quick. If I order early in the day it usually ships that day and arrives two days later via free UPS 2-day Business. But I intentionally avoid ordering anything around the holiday season.

We do strive for a same day fulfillment time with most orders being shipped, meaning picked up by the courier, within 1-2 business days. During the holidays, unfortunately delays are to be expected. I apologize for any inconvenience. We are still working hard to get orders out as fast as possible. Delivery time will vary depending on what option you select at checkout. If you need assistance with an order, please reach out to our customer service team. Phone: 1.888.252.3347 Monday - Friday 7:00am - 5:00pm. ~BHQ

I sent have called BladeHQ 3 times and never got past the recording you get with your options on who to speak to. After 8-10 minutes on hold each time, I just didn’t have time to continue holding. I also e-mailed them 2 days ago and am still waiting for a reply. I have bought from them before and never had a problem, but I am now approaching a week since my credit card was billed so this is certainly not one day fulfillment!

Over the last month I've placed several orders at BladeHQ and other vendors for a few rounds of gift buying. Without exception I will receive the order from the other retailer before the BladeHQ order even ships.

Really don't have a problem with that except Blade HQ states:
"Same-Day Fulfillment

Blade HQ strives to get your order picked and packed the same day you order it. Because of our EPIC fulfillment expectations, our customers get their packages faster than our competitors."

Which in my experience is anything but true, perhaps it's time to reevaluate that statement.

Might want to take a look at this one too
"State of the Art Facility

With Blade HQ's new fulfillment center, we can process and ship your orders faster than any of our competitors. We make it a point to understand our customers' needs and deliver."

Both can be found here:

I generally like Blade HQ and am trying to be constructive letting yall know that my experience with your order fulfillment is pretty far from the goals stated on your website.

I am still waiting on a reply to my e-mails. This is kind of like the “same day fulfillment”, they say they answer “typically within one business day”. At one time this was a reliable company to deal with, but they charged my credit card for my order 10 days ago but have not filled my order and I haven’t been able to get any response from them.

Update 01/07/23: My order finally arrived. Same day fulfillment in this case meant 2 weeks.

Remember when you had to go to the bank for a money order, fill out an order form, put said money order and order form in an envelope, hand write the address and return address, lick a stamp, put the stamp on the envelope, put it in a mailbox…. then waited 6-8 weeks for delivery… with no such thing as tracking to receive updates?

Good times.
We ARE spoiled since the days of ordering knives through catalogs 😂

Spoiled or not, if they say they are going to do something they should do it, if circumstances change and they can no longer meet that commitment then they should say so. Perhaps I'm just being old fashioned. ;)

So, what you’re saying is, if they simply removed the “next day fulfillment” verbiage, then absolutely no one would complain on the internet about an order that takes a few days, and everyone would live in peace and harmony again?

Can't speak for anyone else but they would shut me up.

Eh, I’m just being cantankerous, but I do think our expectations and patience levels can be a little unreasonable as consumers, and heck, maybe the promises of sellers trying to satisfy the instant gratification generation, can be too. It’s a knife, not a kidney transplant.

Delivery speed is a factor for a lot of people when ordering these days, I think we can thank Amazon for that. Waiting a few more days or weeks for a deal is no problem for me as I've lived my whole life without whatever shiny trinket has caught my eye and will live just fine without it for a few more days. That said if I see two retailers both same price, trusted seller, and one is faster than the other. All else being equal I'll take the faster of the two. BladeHQ has knocked themselves a few notches down my go to list, because they have taken awhile to ship my last few orders. Not a deal breaker, but all else being equal it's a factor to consider.

The part I find objectional is that they advertise being faster than their competitors, same day fulfillment yadda yadda... which in my experience just isn't true. There are plenty of vendors out there and I like to support the smaller and especially local guys when I can. Crap like these blatantly false claims from one of the larger online knife retailers further cement the need for support of smaller retailers. Eventually they get so big they lose sight of the customer and are just trying to hustle units out the door. They should be accountable for living up to their end of the deal, so far with me they haven't been and will lose business accordingly. Posting here, like I said earlier, is to try to get them to step up and deliver on their promise or modify their delivery commitment. Thus far crickets, that's more and more the way with big business these days. They get to the top and forget how they got there.

I am definitely a stickler for delivery speed. Payment is instantaneous these days which should reduce processing time. Shipping should be max 4 days anywhere in the continental US and if payment is received, the knife should be in the hand of the shipping carrier the next business day. It is 2023.
I do remember the early 1990s though when you either bought a knife at a brick and mortar store or wrote away for photos and then sent a money order. If you were lucky 6 weeks later you would be surprised with a new knife in your mail box.

BHQ has been reasonably quick for me over the years. On the other hand, since I live 550 miles from Ooltewah, TN, I have an order in my hand the third day after I order, if USPS does its job right.

Everything’s amazing and nobody’s happy…
