Blades upon Books - Traditionals

Got the book for Christmas from my son while visiting the Hemingway place in the Keys. I've slightly modded the Bocote 15, turning it into a clip point. Love the knife, bocote covers and the size but I find a clip or drop point more useful than a spear.

Would you please lend me that book? I'm spending way too much on knives and may be in need of some help. OK if you want to lend the knife too. Thanks.

I’m going to hang onto both. I’m about 3/4 through the book and what I’ve read so far has given me pause to reflect on my knife spending, budgeting and investing. I’d highly recommend it. Easy read. The 38 is a new addition to the user pile and so far, it’s likely to be a frequent carry.

I read this book from the public library recently. The main reason I checked it out is because the title is a phrase that screened porch screened porch often includes in his posts on The Porch. I thought a few of the selections in the book were quite humorous, but most of them didn't seem that funny to me. But that's probably because I'm not black. I taught math for 50 years, and I could probably come up with lots of examples of math humor, but if you're not someone who "lives the math experience", you probably wouldn't think they seemed very funny.

I recently saw an American comedian on YouTube doing maths jokes Gary :D

I rarely get time to read fiction these days, but I'm enjoying this one

Interesting suggestion, Jack!:cool::thumbsup: I should look for some math humor on YouTube.

Looks like a good read, too. I assume the Arthur C. Clarke award is for science fiction. Is your book an example of an "alternative history" type of fiction such as books in which the outcome of WW2 was different?

I've posted lots of novels by John Sandford in this thread, and most, if not all of them, are from 3 related series: his original Prey series featuring Minnesota cop Lucas Davenport; a second series featuring Virgil Flowers, a cop who worked for Davenport; and a quite new series featuring Davenport's now-grown daughter Letty. But here's a stand-alone novel by Sandford, published quite a while ago, that I read recently. Very complicated political plot, but the protagonist, a disabled former soldier now working for the President (or not) figures everything out eventually.
