Dave, I think the only books you sent me back around Thanksgiving that I have NOT yet read are Crouch's Abandon and the steak cookbook. I'll probably start Abandon tonight or tomorrow. Here's a photo of most of the books. (Oops! I haven't read the bottom book in the pile yet, either. I think my wife was reading it, but I don't know if she finished it or where she put it.)

(Since my wife doesn't eat mammals, we VERY rarely prepare any beef, pork, lamb, venison at home; I only eat that kind of meat at restaurants or other people's homes. So I'll probably give the steak cookbook to my son-in-law. They recently bought their first house and one of their first related purchases was a semi-fancy gas grill. He seemed to really enjoy grilling meals for us when we visited for a week at the end of May.)

I should start posting those books in this thread. As I finished them, I took photos of the books with knives, and I've thought about what I'd like to write about each book. I also think I'll probably "review" some of the books in pairs or triples, since I ended up thinking about some of them in terms of comparisons and contrasts.

Wonderful post Gary! This makes me very happy. By all means pass the steak book along to your son in law and daughter. Some excellent technical cooking information in there for the grill. I’m working on a new television rights adaptation deal for Midnight Assassin, which we’ve always believed would make an excellent TV show albeit expensive to produce because of the historical setting. Blake’s Abandon is one of my favorites — and my wife’s absolute favorite book of his!
