Blades upon Books - Traditionals

I re-read this book sometime last month. Complicated plot, a zillion characters (almost none likable), and an overwhelmingly negative perspective on life and humanity. Good book, though!:rolleyes: I've read a lot of Ellroy's novels and they're all very dark.

Interesting, Gary. I'm binging on dark books myself. Just finished re-reading 1984, and started The Fall by Albert Camus:

I've read his The Stranger a few times, and recently read The Plague. I saw Conrad's Heart of Darkness here in this thread recently--maybe I should tackle that again!

Once I got a ways into Heart of Darkness, I couldn't stop, even if I wanted to.

Guess I should mention another book. Somehow last May a Case Teardrop got posed on The Silmarillion. I can't recall the connection I had in mind at the time.

Hmmm....the recipe just calls for a cup or so. Maybe less. My bottle is 1.5 litres. Is that too much? :p

How big are those cups?;)
Mine overfloweth :D

I've done it using an entire bottle but it was for a vast quantity, litre of olive oil and a lot got frozen for later enjoyment...

There are myriad of recipes for this 'soup' from Marseilles and opinions are sometimes bitterly divided about it (absurd) Some even say it is impossible to make it away from the shores of the Med. that's limiting but it certainly tastes better (should do...) if you have the Med in sight:) A mixed fish soup eaten outdoors in good weather with good company, decent bread and cold White is a very satisfying experience anywhere  I can taste in now - but it's turned cold & rainy here 11c more like rich venison stew weather, or wild boar:)

Remember to use a French knife in some of the prep, essential!
