Blasted a Battle Saw

how rough does it feel to your hands. If it is fairly rough it is likely 220 grit. I use 220 to remove coatings and I finish with 320 for a slightly smoother finish. Very fine grit.

Ill check and see if we have a new bag when i go to work tomorrow. It feels very smooth, but I never blast a knife with new beads. I like them to be pretty well pulverized to where they are almost like baking soda. It still takes off the decarb but it's easier on the micarta.

Thanks for the full-sized pic! Looks fantastic!!! I'm going to have to do that to mine at some point. I'm still working on beating the coating off of it right now. :D

Do we know if Busse is still using a two stage process, with grit blast followed by a bead blast? Some of their recent DCBB finished blades do not feel or look the same as older ones.

good question. I recently got three custom ASHBM's and they feel like the old DCBB, but I really don't have any old DCBB's to know for sure. If I remember correctly, what made the old DCBB really good was that the blade was made satin, then the DCBB process. Which made for a very smooth surface. The ones I got sure fit that feel.

Here's the stuff I'm using, Cobalt. Didn't see any size or grit specification on the bag anywhere.

interesting stuff. I think those are finishing beads so they will be very fine. Probably in the 300-400 range. Weird that there is no grit listed

how rust resistant is naked infi. or is it like my satin blades.

Very resistant for a non stainless steel. I have left blades outside stuck in wood overnight in the rain, and no spots or anything.

i know this has probably been asked but i cant find it... if spots do show up whats the best way to clean it and maintain my blades for the future.
