Blatant Civilian ripoff by CS?

This is how the origional "black sable" was presented to the general public on "Shot show" in 2003.

This was a blatant Spyderco copy.

Definitely not interested in a big flame war here. But I just don't see how anyone CANNOT see that this is a blatant copy.

If immitation is the most sincere form of flattery, than Spyderco should feel free to blush.... The second I saw that thing on the "solid proof" DVD I thought Civillian. Reverse S curve blade with thumb hole makes for a very thinly veiled immitation, fortunatley, in this case, a sub par immitation that pays royalties. Too chunky IMHO, although I DO like the ambi clip, particularly in tip up.

The new one has a Walker-lock... I wonder if Walker is getting any royalties...
Nope, didn't think so.

This knife is one huge irony for me. I like liner/frame locks better than lockbacks, but I think this CS looks like a piece of chinese plastic compared to a Civvie/Matriarch. (And what's up with that lip thing at the base of the edge? Are they trying to make it harder to sharpen???)

I think if Spyderco took some cues from the "black talon/sable/whatever" it'd really improve the Civilian....how ironic

It is great to see someone stand up to ColdSteal and make them pay royalties. They suck as far as their crooked business practices go. I like some of their cheaper machete based gear and old CarbonV stuff but only buy it secondary market because I don't want to enrich them.
