Blessed blades?

Kind of ...
I dont have them anymore , but I used to have a couple stone flaked edges and a boomerang , traditionally making these is done accompanied by "singing" the appropriate spirits into the tools , if theyre for hunting or killing people .. when I left tribal ways these tool would be moving about on their own and showing up in unexpected places . I left them in care of someone who wanted them . Some problems I dont need to carry with me :)

The head of the Anglican Church can bless her own blades.

No, she can't. She is not ordained.

Well, I have seen all sorts of things blessed by a priest, and a knife is in the tradition of a sword, so even though odd today, someone might do it.

I'm a Christian, but to me, getting things "blessed" is pointless. A preacher is a human just like me, a few years of preacher school doesn't make him any more holy than your next guy. God blesses me every day, my knives don't need it.

This thread sounds a little odd....

I dunno... I'm pretty sure blessed knives deal critical damage to unholy creatures if you roll greater than a 5 (D8) on the initiative roll.

You convinced me. brb looking for an open-minded priest.

I stand corrected. At least there's one silly hat she's not allowed to wear.

In 1990 Penny Jamieson was consecrated Bishop of Dunedin, becoming the first woman in the world to head an Anglican diocese.

I was at a Filipino Martial Arts seminar many years ago and guys were getting sticks and blades "blessed" by GM Ramiro Estalilla. who was an ordained minister. Seemed odd to me but the Filipinos love that sort of thing.

Why not? A lot of people get things they own blessed. I've seen Pastors/Rabbis pray over and bless cars, houses, property … babies, marriages, etc. Personally I think if you want to bless a knife you don't have to go to a priest or pastor, you can just do it yourself.

As a Christian one of my favorite verses in the Bible is when Jesus said to his disciples, "…he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment and buy one." (Luke 22:36)

I'm the guy who ordered that buffalo horn GEC 22 last week.

...and a bocote GEC 22 at the beginning of the year.

Matt, I was sorry to hear what you're dealing with. That's all I can say bud. Enjoy the 22.

LMAO. I need to break out my Ambush Alpha and get that sucker blessed then.

Never had any steel blessed but a few guys in my unit had their weapons 'blessed' on my first deployment to Iraq.

I'm not Catholic, but the local priest in my hometown used to ask his Congregation to bring in their carry and home defense firearms, to have them blessed.

Tangent: What about naming your blades? Samurai named their swords. I then laser engrave their names on the blade. To me that is same as blessing, to give my blades an identity. Sometimes I just name them so they have one, then they can earn a name based on some event in which they performed above and beyond. My favorite name for one of my knives, Phil Wilson South Fork, is Kaishaku, cuz that thing cuts like a beast...and as a vegetarian it has beheaded tons of broccoli heads and I just laughed when I said it, but Kaishaku it became.

Speaking of katanas many of them are donated to shrines as a symbolic protection for God. I think the priest blesses them ceremoniously before being endorsed.

Velitrius here, Ordained Minister and member in good standing of the Terrible Ironic Horde.

My religious credentials are mighty. I have personally sentenced two people to marriage, and presided over a pet spaying.

I will hereby bless any blades I deem worthy. Post your picture and request my blessing and it shall be so. Verily I say unto thee, some blades might need to do a bit of penance... Jarbenzas, I'm looking in your direction.

Please form your line in an orderly fashion, that there be no wailing or gnashing of teeth.

I had my house blessed and cleansed by a priest, but I never had a knife blessed.
