Blood Feuds?

As shown in a post I made earlier about gun people/knife people, I have really made the migration from being a gun person to becoming a knifeknut. I must say that I enjoy the company of people who enjoy knives more than I enjoy the company of people enthralled by firearms.

What I am wondering is this: what are the knife world equivalents of the shooting world blood feuds? Pistoleros have all sorts of arguments that border on being holy wars. There is the ancient feuds of 9mm v. .45 ACP, pistol v. revolver, all sorts of ideological skirmishing over that ever elusive "stopping power," Glocks versus anything, Colts versus anything else; the list goes downhill from there. Rifle people have a whole other set of endlessly swirling arguments.

What are the subjects that get knife people really disagreeing with one another to ridiculous lengths? Is it custom versus production? This steel versus that steel? Fixed versus folder? Slashing versus stabbing?

What is the biggest blood feud in the knife world? I can go in the archives and see what the longest threads were, but that really isn't a reliable indicator of which disagreements are the sharpest.

Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom. It is the argument of the tyrant; it is the creed of slaves.

William Pitt, 1783

So what gets us as excited as a good round of religion and politics?

Besides personality conflicts that we won't bring up here?

How about the merits or demerits of the American Geo-Tanto blade? With or without a left-side chisel grind?

Or the merits of liner locks generally and the infamous spinal tap test?

Tip down... The way God intended folders to be carried.

It says in the Bible somewhere... "Thou shalt carry thy folder tip-down. Anything else comes from the evil one.." I may not have the quote exactly right, but it says something like that.

Chuck, you got the quote almost right. Only one word was wrong, it should be up. Not down.
One other arguement is opening hole, stud, or disk.

Serrations, a pain or a blessing?
Do I carry 1 or 2 knives?

Geez, Duck......you do ask some irritating questions

What is even dumber is that people bother to respond......can't believe I am doing so.
But, I don't think we knife people need the kind of slant your post puts on our hobby. Damn...it IS a hobby.....isn't it ?

Duck, at least we can agree on one point: as a "gun person" of many years,I find Knife People (caps intentional) to be much friendlier and more open than gun folks tend to be. What do others think?

TTTT,

It doesn't make you a heretic, but it does make you bi-pivotal, which is ok because everyone's pivotal preference in their own business

Gollnick,

I think that verse is found in the book of Axe....lol

I think personality more than anything leads to conflicts here, and even those are few and far between.
You will find yourself in the company of some very awesome people here. So relax, crack open a beer, pick up that blade and commence to flickin'

I didn't see clips mentioned. And how about whether Randall and/or Chris Reeves are "Custom knives"? Or how about Spyderco vs Benchmade, or the "infamous" ATS34? Serrated vs plain edge?

What about SEBENZA; plain or decorated, large or small. I also was a pistol man for many years and I like both types of people.
