Blood Feuds?

Glocks aren't bad, but SIGS RULE.

Wait! that's about guns. I better stick to the topic, otherwise I might mention the name of Jesus Christ (Oops, I did it!!) and Spark will close this thread! He is as intolerant as us Christians.

Point down is the right way, isn't it? After all Kit Carson can't be wrong, can he?

I think the biggest feud is forged vs. stock removal. I happen to like both though. Two of the greatest knifemaker's I admire are Bill Moran (Forge), and Walter Brend (Stock Removal).

OK-let's set the records straight on all accounts:
1. 1911's are the pistols of the Gods
2. Tip up has the fastest deployment, those who say it doesn't are spineless liars
3. G-10 is the only real scale material, those who say it isn't are yellow, scurvy dogs.
4. Chisel grind tantos are superior to something, I've just not figured out what. But those who don't like them also don't like steak, hot apple pie, and the American flag.
5. The Winchester Model 70 with the pre-64 action is the only true hunting rifle made. Remington's are for sissy's (oh...uh..and most police and military tactical snipers, as if THAT means anything....)
Is this abrasive and confrontational enough??
Certainly everyone here knows that I am joking! G10 isn't the ONLY scale material!

PT,
Come on man. Don't hold back. Tell us what you really think.

LOL

I have found knife people to be a bit more laid back than shooters.

BTW bolt-actions ARE inherently more accurate than semi-auto's.

As far as other subjects, to paraphrase some T-Shirt wisdom: "I'm not intolerant, I just don't care"

Hey Mr. Edginton,

First I notice that those icons have been turned off, or my original post would've been headed up with the winking smiley head.

I am not trying to start any fires in this thread. As expected, the posts have been made in a spirit of cameraderie. I just like to see a different thread once in a while so I try and think up something that I hope interests more people than myself.

What else is general discussion for? I myself tire easily of the endless recycling of "What's best for a skunk attack?" I just wanted to find out which threads are likeliest to be holy wars in progress so I can waste less of my time.

I won't back off of knife people generally being cooler than gun folks, not that there is anything genuinely wrong with gun folks that a well developed sense of humor couldn't address.

Take it easy,

Yep, Duck
You were right to challenge me on that one.
Sometimes I take these posts a bit seriously.
It has something to do with international language differences and individual state of mind......chemical imbalances, sometimes, have an influence.
But, then, I am not the only one to suffer from that one

Oh, yeah.....sorry. Sincerely !!

And Mr Edginton was my father....been dead a while, now.

Just a few more:

1) Legitimate fighting technique or commericialized hype.

2) The knife is claimed to have been used by the US Special Forces?

3) The best camp/survival knife is either a SAK, a large "sharpened prybar", or a small fixed blade.

4) Chisel, flat, hollow vrs convex blade grinds.

5) Serrations vrs. non-serated

6) Stainless vrs Carbon steel

7) Best RC rating (edge retention vrs. ease of resharpening)

8) Is it a tool with a blade or a blade with tools (should Leatherman etc. be covered in Blade or in Popular Mechanics).

hmm... I'll be back.

Some here would say the Sebenza is the best folding knife that has ever made or ever will be made. Of course there are others that disagree but they're all communist pink-o bastards and their opinions don't matter.

OK, OK, I couldn't resist...

I'd have to agree with some of the others that knife people here are much more relaxed and laid back than gun (and car?) people.

Will the real Jim Bowie knife step forward; or, will all the imposters take one step back.

Some people touched on but I can't believe nobody came right out and said tactical vs. utility. Or did I miss it?

I have more fun here than at The Firing Line. I think knife people are more fun because we are not constantly worrying about our knives being outlawed.

I think the Blade Forums crowd are a real nice bunch of people. Maybe it's because they're sharper than gun nuts (sorry, I couldn't help myself). Knife lovers seem to have more finess and consideration. I could speculate why, but for now I'll just leave it as an observation.

Folding knife vs. Real knife

Stainless steel vs. Real steel

Serrated edge vs. Sharp edge

(I have no opinion on any of those controversies, as you may have guessed already....)

(Verily, brethren and cistern, there are at least two sides to every question -- the RIGHT answer and at least one WRONG answer, saith the Cougar.)

P.S. Some people think there is a question about Forged steel vs. Rolled steel, but there isn't.

Ghecko, you had me rolling on that one! I was going to go the other way with it, and try to stir up all the Sebenza owners, but heck, either way it's damn funny! Oh yeah, I forget who said it, but bolt actions ARE inherintly more accurate than semi-autos. Who can argue with that???

How about whether a knife, fixed or folder, can be considered a defensive knife without a prominent finger guard. Or if you should thrust with a folding knife.

Axel

Maybe I missed it, but I haven't seen: "Hole vs. Stud vs. Disc" in the list yet. Otherwise known as "Folks who carry Spydies versus folks who haven't one tried yet"

{Edit: LOL, I missed it several times actually...}

And James already mentioned my favorite pair: Chisel grinds, why and which side? (AKA folks who copy Emerson vs. those who think about it).
