Blood, sweat, tears, and a new Enzo.

Ha - I'm nasty and bumbing this thread up so that all those guys returning from the CT gathering can see what a great job you did on this knife!

Thanks again.....

I liked this one so much I ordered one with green micarta as well. Ben also has some very cool JRE Industries sheaths that will fit the Enzo.

Post pics when received and finished.

That looks very nice! I might do one myself.

Can you tell me if the grinds match perfectly on both sides of the blade?

Thanks,

From the looks of it, yes. Very well made knife. Some whittling on a hard wood dowel yielded no nicks either. Heat treat must have been done correctly.

I'm thinking about getting one. Should I order the compete kit or just the blade?

$30 more for the handle scales seems kind of steep to me. I' sure I can find some nice handle material around here for free. Couple years I found some nice madrone burl washed up on the beach. I sliced it up and had gun grips made from it.

I need to sleep on it!

Thanks,

Just wondering if this knife can be picked up anywhere pre-assembled. I dont have the necessary equipment to grind down those pins... Great looking knife though.

It doesn't take much to grind down the pins, a course and fine file, and a sandpaper block did it for me.

Which JRE sheath fits the micarta handled Enzo? I emailed Ben last week and he wasn't sure that any of them would fit the Enzo besides the Western sheath. I really like the looks of the JRE, so I held off buying a sheath.

When you buy the stabilized handles, they do not need oiled or waxed or any finish on them. Sand to 600 or better and buff them out. The 30 bucks extra saves a lot of time on finish work and shaping. The stabilized flat slabs start at about 18 bucks plus shipping from a couple dealers, and run up over 30-35 dollars depending on figure.

I have done them both ways, and figure the shaped scales saved me a couple hours or better. Go for the slabs if you want a unique fit.

You can go with unstabilized wood as well, but will spend extra time putting oil or a finish on it. Just depends on where you want to spend your time or money.
