2009's Blade Show was a great treat for me as it afforded me the opportunity once again to reconnect with friends old and new. I am indebted to all for making it a great time for both my wife and myself. (You all know who you are.
)
As to the new knives I came home with (in the "traditional" vein), here are some images just taken out on the porch.
First up is an awesome 6.25" Bowie (5160 & cocobolo) by Ray Laconico which was a gift from my buddy Campbell:
Next is a 3 3/8" single blade by our own Bret Dowell (ATS-34) clothed in Westinghouse Ivory Micarta. Bret's doing some great work at an incredibly reasonable price. Sorry you couldn't be there Bret but glad LarryM brought this to the show:
I've never owned or even handled a John Howser knife before so this was a real find for me. John couldn't be at the show due to health issues but I was able to speak to him on the phone to thank him for the fine work. Excellent fit and finish and well worth the reasonable price. This is a 4" modified wharncliffe single blade in old German bone and ATS-34. (By the way, that's not a scratch near the tip, just a reflection.):
Next up is a stag handled Wharncliffe Trapper by Mike Zscherny which Lee Grogan brought to the show. Mike made this one a few months back and I'm glad that it lasted long enough to end up in my pocket. The knife is 4" closed and is made with CPM-154:
