2009's Blade Show was a great treat for me as it afforded me the opportunity once again to reconnect with friends old and new. I am indebted to all for making it a great time for both my wife and myself. (You all know who you are.)

As to the new knives I came home with (in the "traditional" vein), here are some images just taken out on the porch.

First up is an awesome 6.25" Bowie (5160 & cocobolo) by Ray Laconico which was a gift from my buddy Campbell:

Next is a 3 3/8" single blade by our own Bret Dowell (ATS-34) clothed in Westinghouse Ivory Micarta. Bret's doing some great work at an incredibly reasonable price. Sorry you couldn't be there Bret but glad LarryM brought this to the show:

I've never owned or even handled a John Howser knife before so this was a real find for me. John couldn't be at the show due to health issues but I was able to speak to him on the phone to thank him for the fine work. Excellent fit and finish and well worth the reasonable price. This is a 4" modified wharncliffe single blade in old German bone and ATS-34. (By the way, that's not a scratch near the tip, just a reflection.):

Next up is a stag handled Wharncliffe Trapper by Mike Zscherny which Lee Grogan brought to the show. Mike made this one a few months back and I'm glad that it lasted long enough to end up in my pocket. The knife is 4" closed and is made with CPM-154:

And finally, I was fortunate enough to pick this beauty up from Mike Zscherny before anyone could get his mitts on it. It's a 4.25" Millennium Trapper pattern with old Case bone and CPM-154. This knife is no shrinking violet!:

Well, there you have it. Some fine new knives to add to the collection (and the pocket), each of which I'm proud to own. Kudos to all the makers!

Those are some real beauties Blues. I need to make that pilgrimage one of these days.

Nice haul Blues. How do you keep your pants up with all those treasures in your pockets?

I really admire that Bret Dowell single blade. Elegance and purpose.

The others are fine too, anything left for anybody else......

I think my brain would short out if I had held that many superb customs.
Very nice haul, you have good taste.

Bobby, good to see you again and happy to see you doing so much better!

Yours ain't so bad yourself...You done good with that beauty from Brent!

Thanks for the nice feedback fellas.

Congrats Elliott! Very nice collection! The bowie fixed blade is a true work of art!

I really, really like the rounded edges and curves on the Bret Dowell. What is the handle shape called? It kind of looks like something between a dogleg and teardrop.

You mean you purchased knives, as well as party?
What an example of multi tasking!

What can you say about the knives?
All beauties!

P.S.
You have permission to show the non-trad knives!

Every one of those is killer, real nice Elliott, and your pics have come a long way, great job
It seems I missed a great show.I definitely missed you guys, until next year then.

Hey Blues, It was very nice to see you and I'm glad that you were able to get so many GREAT blades.

I really like that Mil. Trapper - gorgeous!

Vince, I still take 'em the same way, I just got a better camera a few months ago. :p

Thanks for the good words. Yeah, multi-tasking is fun, except when your hair hurts the "morning after". ;)

Neeman, I got a couple of Izulas gifted to me by my good friends Jeff Randall and Mike Perrin of RAT Cutlery. We go back about ten years and have enjoyed several good times both at Blade and in South FL when they were visiting my former area.

Tex, I'm not sure what you'd call the pattern. It's kind of a quasi trapper/clasp style reminiscent of a truncated Bose WT pattern (or even the Howser as well).

Great to see you too after all this time. Don't be a stranger. It's good to have you around again.

Thanks for sharing your FANTASTIC FINDS!
John Howser called here a few times during Blade...
Said his "Buddies" would take care of his table & knives since he was unable to make the trip to Atlanta this year.
His "Buddies" called him & reported that his box of knives were selling great in the parking lot for $5 to $10 bucks!;)
He is on the mend & improving...
John makes a FINE SLIPJOINT & YOU sure brought home a KEEPER!!

It's a tough choice but if I had to pick a favorite it would be that mil. trapper by Mike Z. I really liked the blade and handle shapes on Brett's knife when Larry showed it to me.

Well, Elliott, I guess that you can sleep the sleep of the just.

The just plain satisfied.

What a nice haul--it is really good to read that the gang came home with lots of great knives.
