Any body see this dudes bashing of the Tenacious on Youtube. What a drama queen (to quote another poster from Youtube). Looks to be a chronic complainer. The Tenacious did very well in his cut test IMO yet he still bashes it. He complaines about the fit and finish where I just don't see it. He even banned a poster for not agreeing with his crappy review which is filled with opinion and not facts. He lost alot of cred as far as I'm concrned. Just wondering if anybody else saw his garbage and was as aggravated with wasting their time as me. What a wiener.

Saw it and my thoughts are the same as yours. He had an agenda on this one.

I don't have any particular feelings about the Tenacious, but my reading was that he had trouble with the huge reputation that so many people give it, not the knife in and of itself. I think he goes out of his way later to say this. I don't know if the washer thing he railed on actually matters or not. In the end, all he seemed to be saying (to me) is that the knife was priced spot on. It was not significantly more valuable than what you pay for it. Which is really the Tenacious claim to fame. I am always up for more info and experienced usage of a knife, so if anyone has more long term usage/exp. jump in here and sound off. I know the Tenacious already gets loads of press, but not all of it is from the view point of lots and lots of time with it after good solid use.

Have you watched any of his other reviews? Doesn't sound like it.

And your wealth of "facts" are?

Bluntruth gave his opinion and if you don't like it, do your own video review. Or, if you disagree with Bluntruth's opinion, point out why he is incorrect without the insulting language.

Just cause u dont agree with the guy on one of his vids, dont discredit the guy! his videos are very informative and he puts the time in to make videos so viewers can learn something. Feel free to do the same if you dont like his!

I agree completely.

I like Bluntruth a lot, actually. And after using my Persistence, I must admit that it really is worth its price. The washers are terrible (very thin and rough) and the steel doesn't hold an edge for very long. The G10 is ok but the FRN handle on my Salt 1 feels just as good.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. He respectfully expressed his, you're welcome to do the same.

You may all go give praise at the alter of Blunt. I'm sure he has room. Do you guys that adamently defend him have latent tendances we should't know about. Apparently I am not allowed to express my opinion..... a right that your "Freind" has been given. I don't have to agree with him, and I DON'T. If any body doesn't like that they can go crall up his a$$. I'm not trying to start an argument. I'm just stating the fact that I don't agree with him. Go take a Mydol and lay down. Later.

I did feel free to express my opinion, so I did, and was forced to defend myself over it.

I have used my Tenacious very hard for a long while and it holds up great. Better than some knives that cost 2-3 x's as much.

I don't think he was bashing the knife...just the hype. Many on the internet are saying it has the quality of a $150 knife. It doesn't. Is it a good knife...yes. Is it worth the asking price...yes. Does it have a great warranty...yes Is it as well built as well as a Spyderco Military...no.

If you have the opportunity to compare it in hand to a Spyderco Military you would see the differences.

I think it is a great knife at the price point. Would I pay over $100 for it...no

Well...first, TROMANO, you seem quite put out in the original post. The responses to it call you out on your opinion. This being a forum, i.e. a place of discussion, it's a valid thing to do. So..let's discuss. You respond to me with a useful response. Your Tenacious has undergone a lot of heavy use and stood up to it. That sounds excellent. What more expensive knives in particular has it outperformed? How did these knives fail you in a way that the Tenacious has not. A couple of interesting thoughts from me...I am not sure how long Blunt has used his, but i doubt it's years. So that may well be a mark for your column. I went back and rewatched the first vid again and i was reminded of the fact that he seems to switch up his L/R deployment which would seem to me to greatly diminish that proposed weakness of the clip placement/design. Another possible mark in the Tromano corner. I cannot think of any other significant weaknesses in his observations, precisely because they are his opinions. It would be interesting to consider whether it is a good business model to include the Tenacious in the Spyderco line. It does in fact fall well short of Spyderco standards in many regards. A name brand means something. This is why so many Knife companies have a separate name for their Value models. They want their name to be unanimous with quality and high standards. Including a value model that is made to a less strict standard might well lessen that definition. This is all based on the assumption that you want to discuss this however. If you do not, and just wanted to state your feelings and let the matter be dropped, with no input from anyone, then perhaps you should have said so in the original post. Anyway, i actually find the knife of interest. I am very curious about the way people feel about it and why. So if you are interested, please expound on your stance and offer a counterargument to Blunts opinions with some detail. Otherwise, it's been interesting almost talking.

I happen to agree completely with his review. I've had a Tenacious for about 5 months now. Can't tell you where it is right now, and I'm not looking for it either. I found when I tried to relocate the pocket clip, one of the screws didn't tighten in the new hole, definitely a QC issue. It's a good starter knife for someone, but if you have anything else from a reputable manufacturer to compare it with, it loses its appeal. I think it also takes away from Spyderco's outstanding reputation for quality, and that's too bad.

I love how he calls it "the Taiwan steel" in the second part.

It's interesting how the OP thinks "bashing" another person for "bashing" a product is acceptable. Personally I find most knife reviews to be soft, as if to justify the purchase. A review should act as a purchasing advice, not an advertisement. I think many people lose sight of that when they do their reviews - you even see knife dealers posting "reviews" nowadays. Like they're gonna admit they sell junk?

I certainly don't agree with all of Blunt's opinions, but I appreciate his honesty. I agree with him in this case; the Tenacious is worth the price, but not the deal of the century as some people make it out to be, and it should be a Byrd knife instead of a Spyderco.

Steven (BLUNTRUTH4U) does a kick ass job of reviewing knives. He does real reviews. He doesn't just show a knife in front of the camera like 90% of people do and look at it. Ususally he does a Overview and then a Cut test for every knife. I like how he is not brand loyal and he calls 'em like he sees 'em.

I have two Tenacious. One SE and one PE. I'm not impressed at all by either of them. Fit and finish is great but I think the steel sucks. That's not a bash. That's me stating my honest opinion and still being a liker of Spydies.

The Tenacious should be a Byrd Knife. Spyderco shouldn't put China made knives in their lineup and put a Spyderco logo on them. Leave that for the Byrd brand. Don't junk up the Spyderco brand.

Anyway, I got off on a tangent....

Go back to some of BLUNT's original videos and watch them. That's what I started doing and I've actually learned a great deal from the guy.

Who I think is a wannabe bushcrafter and military gung ho artist is Nutnfancy. Dude Nutnfancy is freaking over the top goofy. He talks about himself in the third person and has the TNP (The Nutnfancy Project). He mixes Crystal Method music with shooting vids and just seems all Billy Badass. He's a Rich guy with guns and knives who likes to hear himself talk.

Eh, it's just another opinion on the internet. It's nice to see them and is very informative for the customers out there. Blunt has some good vids and has a different outlook on the knives he reviews. Basically no knife is perfect, but some are better than others and he tells you which ones are the better options.

I do somewhat agree with his Tenacious review, people say the knife is worth so much more than it is (most of these people probably have never handled higher quality knives) when it's only a $30-$40 knife. He says the knife is worth the price, I don't see how this is bashing. Maybe it's because people have this mentality that every opinion stated is supposedly a known fact? Someday they'll learn, or maybe we'll just see threads like these continue to pop up? Probably the latter.

Personally i think dude's full of it....but despite that, he's entitled to his opinion...could have set it up a little better, maybe less of a bash fest...I also felt like many of his critiques (such as about the G-10 being thin) were based on stylistic attributes which are very subjective and are gonna vary from person to person...basically point being if you want a knife watch and read many different reviews before you buy...which is where he is contributing to the knife community.

I thought that it was funny how surprised he was during his cutting demo. Like maybe he had never used the knife before. It seems to me that he has an agenda. Or maybe he was just pissed that some people care more about performance than about how thick the washers are or how even the grind is. Anyway, that is my opinion from watching his review on the tenacious. I haven't seen any of his videos before. I'm sure I will enjoy watching them though.

Also, I have to second what David said about nutnfancy

He's a Rich guy with guns and knives who likes to hear himself talk

Nutnfancy is just a little full of himself and now that he's getting big he's getting really full of himself. I admire what he does, but he's letting the fame get to his head. He acts like every business decision that knife companies make is inspired by his "philosophy." It's hard to stomach some of his BS because he has so many followers that treat it as fact.

Another reason I like Blunt's vids, he calls somethinspecial (Nutnfancy) out on his BS.
