Bluntruth Tenacious bashing.

I really enjoy watching his reviews. Not only are they entertaining, but they are different from most knife reviews on YouTube because he actually uses the knife instead of just rambling on about the specs.

What really impressed me about him as a person was his response to the Cold Steel Ti Lite review he posted. A few members on the Cold Steel forum (who probably know more about knife fighting than he does) called him out about the video that "mongomondo" linked to above. He later admitted that he knew nothing about knife fighting and apologized for making comments about techniques that could get someone with less experience killed. Check out the thread here

In my opinion he is a stand-up guy. I purchased a Para-Military because of his review and I love it. I didn't have to do any of the mods he did because they didn't affect me. I will probably buy a Tenacious also based on his review because it is worth the price, nothing more.

Regards,
Matthew

the whole video does seem to stand in sharp contrast to all the other opinions I've heard

his voice annoys the hell out of me too, and i though cutlerylover rambled to much (i actually love cutlerylovers vids)

For those of you that only watched the Tenacious review you really should watch more of BLUNTRUTH4U's stuff. He calls it like he sees it. No bullshit.

You cant compare the Endura and Tenacious, theyre totally different and the Endura wins any day. It outperforms the Tenacious in every aspect but price.

But youre totally right, he might have gotten a bad Tenacious and based his review on that particular one.

He must have gotten a poorly finished blade and assumed that all of them were that bad. Mine has absolutely no "hills and valleys" visible on the blade surface. Saying that it was ground by 12 year olds was an unnecessary and unwarranted slam at the Chinese workers, as if they're either all slaves or children. This guy had an axe to grind from the git-go. He doesn't like Chinese stuff, and how dare Spyderco put their name on it.

I'll grant him that it isn't a great knife, but it stands up against any $35 folder out there. There are much better out there, but you're going to pay twice as much for them.

These days especially, people are looking for value.

I completly agree with his review, while I do find in to be a nice design, in my opinion it is poorly executed, I have had nothing but problems with my tenacious.

He never assumed anything, he did the review on the knife that he had. Why is it so hard for people to understand this?

As for other knives, there are a lot of options out there that out perform the not-so-great steel of the Tenacious and they can be purchased around the same price.

I prefer his working knife reviews over most of the other knife reviews on Youtube. The Tenacious IMO is a $30 knife, its not terrible but its certainly not more than what it is. I happen to own two of them and use them - have not had any major issues with them.

Love it or hate it, anyone who has used a Byrd or Tenacious but also used a Delica, Endura, or Military is going to see the difference. I have used Byrd, BM Pika, Delica, P-Milie, and BM Grip. Far and away the more expensive knives feel more expensive. They function more smoothly, etc - but you pay for it. Sure the Tenacious or the Byrd series still work great - but they are not the equivalent of Spyderco's other offerings. If price were not an object, and someone asked a question Should I get a tenacious or a P-Milie, what would you tell them?

I think every Tenacious review ends with "for the money." It's a good value knife but it's no miracle knife. I loved it and carried it but as soon as I got a Delica, it lost out. My new Bob T. Slipit is probably going to replace the Delica and Native, but I don't consider them equal. So anyone that compares the Tenacious to a $60 knife and insists they are equal either got a crappy $60 knife or is deceiving themselves.

Would anyone choose a Tenacious over a Delica or a similar quality knife? I doubt it.

As for Bluntruth, I appreciate his vids and find them entertaining. I also find the Nutnbabble's vids entertaining too. They all give me a chance to see new knives in hand and provide a perspective no online ad or picture could provide. And if these vids happen to teach me something new, then good for me.

To be fair, I have to admit that I purchased a few knives purely based on internet reviews but I got exactly what I paid for, nothing less, nothing more.

The only regret I have is that I have so many cheaper knives instead of a few higher quality knives.

Steven (BLUNTRUTH4U) does a kick ass job of reviewing knives. He does real reviews. He doesn't just show a knife in front of the camera like 90% of people do and look at it. Ususally he does a Overview and then a Cut test for every knife. I like how he is not brand loyal and he calls 'em like he sees 'em.

I have two Tenacious. One SE and one PE. I'm not impressed at all by either of them. Fit and finish is great but I think the steel sucks. That's not a bash. That's me stating my honest opinion and still being a liker of Spydies.

The Tenacious should be a Byrd Knife. Spyderco shouldn't put China made knives in their lineup and put a Spyderco logo on them. Leave that for the Byrd brand. Don't junk up the Spyderco brand.

Anyway, I got off on a tangent....

Go back to some of BLUNT's original videos and watch them. That's what I started doing and I've actually learned a great deal from the guy.

Who I think is a wannabe bushcrafter and military gung ho artist is Nutnfancy. Dude Nutnfancy is freaking over the top goofy. He talks about himself in the third person and has the TNP (The Nutnfancy Project). He mixes Crystal Method music with shooting vids and just seems all Billy Badass. He's a Rich guy with guns and knives who likes to hear himself talk.

BINGO

Id have to say Nutn's vids are some of the most entertaining, and informational on the web. Yeah he might babble on about some stuff, but it's usually on topic with the knife review, and is neccesary in order to create a thurough review. To say he is a wannabe bushcrafter is completley rediculous as well. This guy has spent a crazy amount of time in the woods, hell, he even has vids of it. I think BLUNTRUTH's vids are great too, but they don't compare to Nutnfancy's. Besides, if you don't wanna watch em, then don't watch em.
