Kershaw Blur S30V was just delivered, along with a Smith’s combo diamond sharpener. My first serious knife that I bought myself that isn’t a SAK. After just a couple of open-and-closes, the action softened up to where I could flip it open and close it with one hand, which I consider an accomplishment since I’ve never touched anything with assisted open before. Liner lock is very easy to open. And holy crap is it sharp. Oh, and sorry about the black handle. :p

Tomorrow I’ll be splitting my time between flipping it open and closed and looking for more stuff to sharpen while ‘working from home’.

Congrats. The Blur was my first "serious" knife as well. I didn't splurge like you though, I opted for the pedestrian sandvik model with the tacticool serration and glass breaker. I picked it because I did weeks of study and decided it was the optimal EDC for me.

Just kidding it was on sale at the Zon...

I've since passed it on to a buddy who gave it to his daughter. It's a great knife for anyone.

did you get it from a legit dealer(not that anything looks wrong with yours), there were lots of counterfeits of that certain model going around for while

Congratulations on the new Blur.
Love the Blur. I have both 14C28 and S30V models.
Love the blade profile change between 14C28 and S30V. Subtle, yet impressive.
Love the beautiful machining job Kershaw did on the S30V. These are, after all, the same folks making ZT knives. Top notch machining job.
Heat treat appears to be spot on.
The S30V version cuts like a banshee. (my highest rating)

I’m already loving this knife. I love its look, the shape of the blade, how it feels in my hand. The only real work I’ve done with it so far is slicing open the Smith’s sharpener package, which it did ridiculously easily, and then shredding up some trash paper. I don’t know why it’s so satisfying slicing a knife through a sheet of paper, but it is. Most importantly, it feels great and exactly what I was hoping from the handle shape, and one of the big reasons I picked it, along with the recurved blade.

Coming next is a slightly smaller Oso Sweet, because its 3” blade is more legaler to carry than the Blur’s 3.4”, which I unfortunately didn’t learn until after I ordered the Blur. So this will be my around-the-house knife, which is where I spend 99% of my time anyway, and the Oso Sweet will be my partner on the road. After that, I’m gonna just lay low for a good long while and spend a lot of time on this forum checking out options for the next one. I’ve read hundreds of posts so far and haven’t yet seen the same knife twice, so there’ll be no shortage of stuff to choose from.

Dang... this thread is making me want to get my first Kershaw. I went my whole early-knife life without getting one, stuck with Ontario and stuff. These look nice.
I think you'd like one.

I consistently use a 14C28N hollow ground version with an aftermarket deep carry clip for work and play.

If I was a "normal" person, it could very well be the only EDC folder that I need.

That exact same Blur was my EDC about 8 years ago. It was my first S30V and Assisted Open knife. I found the ergnomics excellent, the weight and the slim profife perfect. Eventually I moved on from Assisted Open and recurves. But that is one great knife.

The Blur is a fantastic first serious knife and a fantastic serious 100th knife. It was actually my first serious knife too. I bought mine about 15 years ago from a local gun show from "Kershaw Guy". I got lucky and got into the Blur game at the right time when the S60V versions had just come out. I was looking at his table of knives and asked him which one was his favorite and he said "This is the hot one that everyone wants right now", and I really liked it so I picked that one. I planned to use it, and still want to but it turned out that they only made 300 total of them so it still sits here on my desk unused. I've had quite a few other Blurs throughout the years. Currently I have this S60v version, a 14c28n version, and a S30v version.

Nice! I have a CPM-440V Millie, also a bit scared to use, but the retention on that is high! That's a valuable knife, my mane, quite nice. Hollow ground, or am I tripping?
