BM 740 Dejavoo

Daniel
Thanks for the pics. What is the weight of the large Lum compared to the weight of the Manix?

I got the chance to handle the smaller Mini Dejavoo at Sportsman's Warehouse earlier today, and I must say; I want one. Very smooth action, great lockup, no lock play whatsoever, awesome handle ergonomics and full flat grind makes for a great knife from what I can see.

I can't wait until New Graham gets them in stock...

Can anyone tell me where the center-of-gravity is on this knife? Wondering if the stainless liner gives it some backwards weight or not -- cause that's what I like! Cheers.

No idea about the 740, but the 745 weighs 95 grams on my digital scale. The center of gravity when opened is about 0.875" from the pivot, on the handle.

due to the steel liner, the center of gravity on my 740 is right in the liner lock cutout, on the left side

Thanks for the info. This knife is on my list. After reading this, I think i will get a small. I really LIKE liner locks myself. At least good ones. I have had both Kershaw and Spyderco linerlocks fail spine taps, but never benchmade. I have heard Ti will somehow "stick" to the steel tang and slip less easily than steel on steel. I don't know if this is true, but if it is, it's a good reason for using TI on the lock side. Anyone know the average going price for the mini?

Well after reading all these posts started investigating the Dejavoo. Ended up winning one on ebay just today a pre prod. model for pretty cheap nib. Lucked out I think cause the auction ended early mid afternoon. I'll report on it when I get it. Keepem sharp

Looks like a winner here. I wish it would of had an axis lock too, but hey. This knife looks like it is pretty comparible to the military. Anybody have both? -Thoughts?

Ironman, you should find the 745 in the $80-90 range pretty easily

what amazes me is that the 740 is the first liner lock i can flip open the way i do with axis locks, yet there is no blade play and the liner engages each and every time

plus, it is kinda pretty... bob lum did a fantastic job on this one

the 740 is one of the most beautiful knives i've ever seen... clear lines, extremely smooth G10, great steel, fantastic lockup
whenever i have to wear a suit, the 740 goes iwb at 4 o'clock

on the other hand, the 14205 seems appropriate for casual wear/jeans
i'd strongly suggest you get both

Finally picked up a 740 Dejavoo and am well pleased with the purchase. Though I generally prefer heavier knives in this size range, the 740 has such good looks, ergonomics, materials, and overall great fit/finish, that I forgot about the weight the minute I picked it up. The bronze washer used under the pivot pin head is a really nice touch. The blade is perfectlly aligned on mine, and the locking liner lines up perfect on the left hand side of the blade tang. The flat ground blade is a really good slicer as I used it last week to cut up some cardboard. The blade edge did not dull very much but a few passes on my Sharpmaker had it popping hair! There are a couple of things I would have liked to have seen; I would have liked to have had the liners thicker, like those on the 425, and also a thicker blade, like the 6100 Rukus, but I can definately live with it in the present form!

I have had mine for about a month! I bout it from eBay. The blade says it is a first production 0571/1000.

I had to take a burr off the liner to get the lock to seat properly though. Other than that it is a great knife.

I don't know why Benchmade uses that pocket clip over and over again, on a new knife design they should have done a new design for the clip.

I found from past BM models that pocket clip only gets in the way of getting any possible grip on the knife. I have removed the pocket clip and never put it back on any BM I have had.

On the bigger knives I agree with you. On models like my 960 or 3200 I like the clip. It keeps it out of the deep recesses of my pocket and doesn't seem to get in the way.
