I just ordered one of these so I was wondering what all you guys thought about them. I had one a long time ago when they first came out but I didn't have it but about a week when I ran into this guy that wanted to buy it really bad so I sold it to him so I can't really say if I liked it that much or not because I didn't have it that long. That whole sentence says the same thing over and over :o sorry. Anyway back to the topic at hand. What do all of you think? Thanks for your thoughts.

Great knife. One of my daily carries.Has been for a long time.:)

Just got mine two weeks ago and I like it a lot. Gotta love the axis lock, smooth as silk! Very clean looks and comfortable to carry all day. Definitely one of my favorites.

John, this is how I answered your question about Favorite Axis Folders back in January:
"The Osborne 770 Gents' Folder followed very closely by the Osborne 940 Folder. The 770 is a wonderful dress-up, "go to meeting" kind of knife that will do a most amazing number of different chores and still look quite dressy and slick while doing them. The 940 is one very heavy duty knife for which you do not pay the peanalty of massive size, weight, or clunky looks. Mr. Osborne seems to have a touch for designing the maximum utility into the nicest looking knives of the smallest posssible size that will do the expected jobs."

And a post from last July:
"I cannot speak to either the 710 or the Sebenza, but I really like the 940 and the Osborne 770. They are both very good examples of the "Gentleman's Pocketknife". The 940 is quite well designed, fitting my hand very well and looking very svelte while doing so. The only thing that keeps it out of the running as an EDC knife for me is its blade size, over 3". I work where there is a 3" limit. I actually carry a Gunting as an EDC because the controls are easier for arthritic hands and it has a 3" blade."

I genuinely like the 940 and the 770. Osborne's designs both appeal to me for practical as well as aesthetic reasons.

Awesome knife!! The 940 is my favorite Axis Lock from BM (though, the Axis AFCK isn't too far behind!). I love the overall look of the 940. It's slim, lightweight, has a useful blade shape, and is very non-tactical looking which is very refreshing. And the action on both of my 940's is smoooooooth. You have certainly made a good choice, John. Hope you enjoy it!

John,

I really like mine. At first, I wasn't so sure about the roughness of the anodized scales. It's a good looking, light, dressy, or sporty, knife. I think the titanium back spacer is a nice touch, especially beside the green scales.

What Dex said! One of my all time favorite BM's. A "must have" for any true "knifeknutt".

The BM 940 is one of very favorite knives. It is light and not too big. perfect for EDC. Also, I have noticed that there are no scratches after riding in my pocket with the cell phone, keys and change for about 8 months!

I think it's a wonderful design, I have a limited edition red handle
940 23 of 50.

However, if I open the knife fast, or am otherwise not concentrating on what I'm doing, I cut myself. The distance between the edge and the thumb stud is very short. During the opening arc, the pad of my thumb begins to engage with the edge, and if I continue, a semi-circular patch will be cut off. Due to this, I either snap it open with a gentle nudge of the thumb and a light wrist snap, or I pay very close attention to what I'm doing if I use the stud.

Otherwise, I like the overall shape, design, and smoothness of the 940. I'd say go for it!

Great knife! It's become my EDC for work days at the office.

Effective, efficient, lots of blade in a small package, and not too scary to sheeple.

The BM 940 is a very versatile knife. Not too big; not too small (definitely a knife that Goldilocks would choose). Strong point for penetration; works great for slicing and/or for peeling. It is my "beater" knife, that is, the knife I use for most common cutting tasks that I would prefer not to do with my prettier knives.

I have the 942 (the same as the 940 only that it has an all black handle). You may want to check out the BM 941 which is supposed to have a clip point blade for those who prefer that design.

Bottom Line: The BM 94x series may be "the one and only" knife most of us really need for general purposes. (Although none of us enthusiasts will admit to such heresy). ;)

Excellent knife. Very easy to carry at all times. It's thin and light, with a very good utility blade. One of my favorites.:)

The 940 is the only BM I own, and I like it a lot. The slimness of the profile, the light weight, the unique and useful blade shape, and especially the Axis lock all go together to make it a winner.

I like the blade and the looks. I've come to dissatisfaction with the handle. First, it's aluminum. Some love that, I don't like metal handles. And in hard cutting the handle/clip combo ended up tearing off some skin layers. This was in cardboard, a heavyduty furniture pack grade.

940 is a nice, well-built knife, but I don't care much for the ergonomics - for my dollar i'd rather have a 710 or 806D2

I had one of the blue handled 940's. I really enjoyed that knife, I wish I still had it today. :( My Wife decided she liked the 940 better that the REKAT Pioneer II I gave her, so I had to go out and order a custom knife from Keith Coleman to get over the loss of my 940.:D Now if Keith would only finish my knife. :(
