Bm Mini Grip or Spyderco Delica 4

Ha, there's a couple answers for ya.

I have both, and really like both. I suggest you get both. That said, the Delica is thinner in blade and handle and easier to carry, has a slightly longer handle, can be carried tip up or tip down, is cheaper, and can be had with a FFG blade that cuts very well. The Mini Grip has a thicker handle that fills the hand better, feels much more solid, can be carried tip up only, is more expensive, and can be had with a nearly-FFG blade that's even more expensive. They're both great, inexpensive EDC knives.

I also have both, love the axis lock & the mid lockback. I would go with the ffg ground blade, for me it's a slicer. Gary

I would choose between the Delica with zdp189 and the Mini Griptilian with m390 (Ritter). I might prefer the latter steel.

I prefer the Delica.

Feels more solid in the hand
More aggressive texture for grip
Thinner in the pocket
Better thumb ramp
More ergonomic 4 finger grip
FFG blade makes a better slicer (get the Saber grind if you want more strength)
Thumb hole is easier to access vs a thumb stud
Mid lock is very reliable and consistent (AXIS lock omega springs can break, it's rare though)
Better blade steel (ZDP and sprints are even better)

All my opinions of course.

I would have say the grip is more heavy duty than the Delica, but they are both great knives no matter which you chose. Still like the ffg blade on the Delica. GC

I have both and both are great but I prefer the Delica, especially in ZDP-189, for all the reasons already mentioned.

Indeed, the Delica ZDP is my go-to EDC.

I have both. I prefer the Delica 4 FFG. It fits better in my hand then the BM. 4 way pocket clip is nice too.

I have both too and like both. At first the Mini Grip was in my pocket more but lately the Delica has been carried more. I think both knives have their virtues and you can't go wrong with either. That said, I think the Delica is a great value considering the price and would recommend that the OP start with that.

I own both and I think it depends on what you're going to do with the knife!

Delica: Thin blade, excellent for slicing and handling work like opening mail, food prep, and other light edc task

Mini-grip: light, but could be used to do hard cutting task such as cutting thick plastic packaging, cutting straps and other harder use tasks!

I personally prefer the handle on the delica, it just feels better in my hands, both knives are very smooth and quality are top notch, it all comes down to how the user would like to use the knife!

I think if you talking about the standard model of each, the Delica is the better value by a significant margin...mostly by virtue of its ~$24 price advantage. If you highly value American production, that price advantage will disappear.

Delica Advantages:
-FFG
-4-way position-able clip
-Better/more handle texturing
-Frequent/Ongoing Sprint Runs

Mini Grip Advantages:
-Axis Lock
-Blade Steel, slight margin IMO.
-Custom build program
-Free pocket clips...more a product of the company than the knife.

Tried to keep that first part relatively objective. I prefer the Delica's ergos (though I don't love eithers ergos), slimness and thumbhole...(though you can get a Grip with an opening hole also). The Axis Lock is miles better than a backlock...stronger and easier to actuate.

All that being said, I don't own a Delica as I prefer the Endura (different discussion). I do own a Ritter Mini-Grip, mostly by virtue of its revised blade shape, blade steel (M390) and stonewash. Really enjoy it. I think the Mini Grip is crying out for an update...much more than the handle material change and blade steel upgrade it just received in the -1. But, as long as they keep selling so strongly Benchmade probably won't bother.

Nonetheless, both the Delica and Mini-Grip are excellent knives and the staple/backbone of thousands of people EDC systems worldwide. Really can't go wrong

Both are good knives, but I can't bring myself to justify the MAP pricing on the Mini Grip. Especially now that Benchmade put out the H&K 14716, which is almost the exact same size, comes with D2 steel and G10 scales and costs the same.

Both of these knives are very popular and owners of both knives seem to love them.

I often carry a Mini Benchmade but not a Mini Griptilian. I had one years ago and gave it away. The problem for me is not just the length of the grip but the shape. The choil/finger guard on the Mini Griptilian pushes my hand back on the handle and prevents me from getting a solid 4-finger grip. If you have small hands, this may not be an issue with you. And the Mini Grip is the only one of the Benchmade Mini models that feel that way to me--I love and frequently carry a Sequel, Mini-Stryker or Mini HK Axis model. I can get a good grip on those knives with all 4 fingers.

The Delica combines a good thin, narrow and long grip with excellent ergonomics at a reasonable price. Although thin, the nested full length steel liners give the Delica a solid feel. The VG-10 steel is equivalent to Benchmade's 154CM, in my opinion. I'm a fan of both and I prefer either of these steels to the expensive optional super premium steels that most people find more difficult to sharpen.

So...once again I'm recommending the Delica. I'm sounding like an old record player with the needle hung up and repeating one line of a song. "Get the Delica...get the Delica...get the Delica...."

Both great knives and many people here on the forums have one or both in their collection, the numbers speak volumes. I prefer the axis lock, and a piece of American steel in my pocket makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside so my work edc is the grip. But like many others have said you really can't go wrong with either.

Both are excellent, but for me it's the Benchmade.

If you are a hole-in-the-blade-opener kinda guy, get the 555-1. G-10, Axis lock, CPM-20CV steel, Pardue design, Made in USA....

That said, you can grab a Delica 4 with FRN handles and VG-10 for a hundred bucks less.

It is worth a couple mouse clicks to look at the H&K 14716 Mini Axis. It's a great piece at this price point.

^This. The new grips are several classes above in materials (and cost) but worth it in my opinion. If you are just looking for a thin lite EDC the Delica is about as perfect as they come for that. In between on cost would be the HK.
