BM Rukus

to make this knife 10x better,i mirror polished the liners, all torx screws, axis bar,& pocket clip.did it to the 610 & 615, it is such a difference it was worth the effort!

Sounds really cool. Can you posts some pics??

can someone direct me on picture posting, nrever did it here before.......

This is what I do:
- Go to http://s169.photobucket.com.
- Start an account (it's free)
- Upload your photos to photobucket
- Under the image to upload, there are 4 links. You want the last one, called "IMG Code"
- Highlight and copy the link in that box
- Paste it into your post and you will have uploaded a photo

Sometimes it helps to resize the image. I try to keep them under 1024 x 768 for ease in uploading and to "ease the pain" of other Forumites who, like me, might be on a dial-up connection.

I'd kindly like to know how you did that, Goldie.

thanks for the info, stretchnm !basicly disassembled both knives, & using a polishing wheel,& some polishing paste, polished all the screw heads, all the liners, & the inside of axis bar, along with the pocket clips.took about an hour or so each knife.i may load another nice picture as well.....

I too have a mini Rukus that I alternate as my EDC. My one complaint about this knife is that is it a little harder to open one handed than my mini Grip (my other EDC) . This is because of the clearance between the thumb stud on the blade and the handle. The Grip has more clearance thoughout the arc of opening and thus is easier to operate one-handed. Other than that it is a fine knife. It is certainly built from some of the best marterials available.

I carry a mini-rukus as well, and absolutely love that knife. I think you did well! Also about the one handed opening... I personally don't have a problem with the thumb stud, but one nice thing about axis and arc lock knives is you can both open and close them one handed by simply releasing the lock and flicking your wrist, you don't have to use the stud at all.

Include pictures of your mirrosr polished blade, it sounds very interesting.

Until you mentioned it, I forgot about that. My only complaint. The thumbstud is so close that my thumb wants to ride over the top of it. If it were just a tad higher on the blade, that would allow the fleshy part of the thumb to sink down in between the scales and the stud, and permit a more controlled opening. I remember now I had to almost change the position of the knife in my hand so my thumb could get "down in there" to really catch the stud.

I put my nail directly under the thumbstud and flick it open, so I don't have this issue and don't notice a difference in difficulty for opening between the Grips and the Rukus. If anything, the 710 seems to give me this type of problem.

I haven't played with the 710, but the Rukus does do this to me if I remember right. But, for me, it's unnatural to re-position the knife to get the tip of my thumb down in there. I'm spolied by the wheel stud....when my 975 opens, the knife is right where I want it position-wise. It's opened by the side fleshy part of the thumb. Ergonomically, we're all different as to how we carry, open, and hold our knives. Plus, once we get used to something, everything about it seems natural.

Then again...this space between the thumbstud and scales might all be subjective to my imgination.

Very nice job on the polishing there, although I would prefer mine black because my blade is black. Once the finish starts to wear I will most ikely take it apart and do the same thing. Great looking knives man! My Rukus has become my absolute favorite knife now over all others. It's like having a fixed blade size knife that fits perfectly comfortable in my pocket.

Hey goldie. Great lookers you have there! I have done just about the same thing to my 610 Rukus. I've polished the liner edges, but not to a mirror finish. I also have added a pair of the white micarta grips to the knife, and polished and shortened my axis bar so that it does not stick out, but lie flush with the scales. I'm real pleased with the end results!
