New model of the 710 in M390 with blue and a black G10, and along with the Contego exclusive at Knife Works it features a blade with M390 steel.

This saddens me, as it makes a KW Exclusive Rift to match the Contego less likely. I did not like my 710.

I am in....Yes! Got to love KW

I believe this picture is a proto-type.
Kw is saying the regular unlimited run will have Blue/Black G10 Sculpture handle scales with blue barrel back spacers and all silver hardware and sport a polished arrow clip.
Sweetness

Thanks for the heads up. Preordered one. Nice combination of scales and steel.

Much rather have this 710-1401 at $200 than the 710-142 for $510.00!

These are actually a good value (considering the recent price increase) with the m390. I'm very pleased with it so far on my 810-1401. Seems like it sold well enough to do another model, so others hopefully not far behind. I'm hooked.

I love the edges on my LE M390's.
I have one from the original LE run of 250 pieces and one from the LE un-limited run
that Knifeworks did a couple.......or maybe a few years back.
Excellent blades both of them (Love the rounded spine).
I believe this is another BM home run.....IMHO

In for one, maybe two, of these. My 710-2 is my favorite knife I've ever owned, and that includes a Sebenza.

How is M390 to sharpen? What would it compare to?

I would personally compare it to S30V or maybe S35VN in ease of sharpening. The aggressiveness of the steel in terms of cutting I would compare to S90V (with a relatively coarse edge) in terms of how aggressively the carbides seem to cut.

However when M390 is highly polished and refined it keeps that aggressive nature with a very very fine edge which will hold for a long time.

Just my 2 cents.

I've heard through the grapevine that they're thinking about doing a Rift in the same handle color and steel :D

A Rift in M390 is my grail knife! I don't really care about the color of the scales, as I can take some RIT dye and make the 2-tone scales blue/black, green/black, marroon/black...

M390 has been called a "stainless CPM-M4." It is easier to sharpen than D2, but holds its edge like CPM-M4.
