Bm710-1401

CPM-M4 used to be my favorite steel until I got a 710-2 in M390, and it has nothing to do with being stainless. I sharpened mine to a 1000grit stone on the edge pro. It bites MUCH more than M4 sharpened to the same grit. I feel it's edge holding exceeds that of M4, as it has lasted much longer. However I've used M4 for harder jobs so it's not an apples to apples comparison.

I just pre-ordered one of these. My only concern is that sculptured handles will add thickness to the knife overall. Not a huge deal as I can always get new thinner handles.

I'm in! My M390 710 is probably one of my favorite knives. All I can say is that the blade better not hit the dang standoff...

The M390 blade in category 2 of Jim Ankerson's test thread is one of the 710s with an M390 blade.

Awesome... Have been beaten myself up for getting rid of my last m390 710. Definately one of the best cutters I've ever experienced.

At least in BKC, it seems they have listed CPM-M4 (62-64) with higher hardness than M390 (60-62). From what metal contents are concerned, M4 has more Molybdenum and Tungsten and M390 has more carbon, chromium. BU makes it in their 3rd generation micro clean. The particle size may be smaller and cleaner than CPM-M4. Molybdenum and tungsten should make CPM-M4 to be tougher and harder, but M390 sintered with smaller particle in cleaner environment makes extra chromium carbide to be hard without being as brittle as previous generation.

Has anyone tested 810 vs. 810-1401? That would be the answer to this debate of both metals.

Just when I thought I could stop buying knives....... Goes and places an order.

M390 steel is great and at a reasonable price. Seems a far better deal than the 710-141/142. But I find the blue/black scales absolutely hideous.

I can't resist LE 710's and AFCK's even at post MAP enforcement.

This price isnt the result of map enforcement. The original m390 710 was 199.95. Considering this is thr same price with the upgraded scales, one might say it's cheaper than before the enforcement.

The unspoken discounts never did apply to the limited/exclusive models. They were always at MAP, so nothing has changed with them. That's why I'm hoping that some day there will be a 950-1401 or 950-1501 that comes in at $200 or less...

Maybe they should a different color for each edition.
I like the blue but a new color would be cool.

I am in....Yes! Got to love KW

I believe this picture is a proto-type.
Kw is saying the regular unlimited run will have Blue/Black G10 Sculpture handle scales with blue barrel back spacers and all silver hardware and sport a polished arrow clip.
Sweetness

I wonder if it has barrel spacer (I'm hoping) or G10-spacer?

I really want 950 in M390, as Loonybin said 950-1401 or even 950-1501.

The ad on kw as well as post five here answer your question :) barrel spacers

1. Can't wait to see the actual photos. Im assuming it'll look great. Very excited, love my standard scale 710 M390.

I like what I read on the description but will it have the rounded spine? Doesn't say.

Saw it the other day. Haven't placed my order yet but hopefully I get the mostly black version to match my 810.
