BOB knives?

Right now my bob contains a SOG fusion bowie, a mora clipper, leatherman core and a fiskars sliding saw and a stanley knife. I might switch the fusion bowie with a revolver and dump the saw but thats whats there now. I also plan to get a county comm breacher bar and sharpen the edge and make a sheath for it as a bash/pry/chop knife.

Or you could just buy a Becker Tac-Tool.

The county comm bar costs 15.00 and is fairly light and thin with alittle time on the grinder and a scrap of kydex or heck duct tape wrapped cardboard for a sheath it's a good tool. The becker costs over 90.00 and weighs a heck of alot more and is alot more bulky.

You do have a point. The Tac-Tool is a great tool, but $15 vs $75 is a pretty big difference.

I'm not sure I'd call it a BOB, but I drive about 50,000 miles a year and carry a pack in my car with first aid kit, 4D Mag Lite, fire extinguisher, jumper cables and assorted camping/survival gear including:

However, I'm updating my BOB (Bug Out Bag) and was wondering what are the common/popular/"best" knives for the situation.
This is a common topic in the Wilderness & Survival Skills sub-section of forum. You should be able to find some good recomendations there.

Personally, I think you need two knives in your pack. A medium sized folder or perhaps a multi-tool for routine small jobs (preparing food, opening packages, cutting rope). I currently like the Victorinox Outrider. A nice locking main blade, with several useful tools included (scissors, can opener, bottle opener, screwdrivers, and woodsaw).

Next, I like a heavier, medium or large fixed blade. If you carry an axe along, a medium blade (4-5 inches) is good and will handle all the tougher tasks (dressing game, bushcraft, etc.). I currently have a BRKT Highland Special which is very nice for this niche. An RAT RC-4 would also be a good choice. If you don't carry an axe, I would probably go with an even larger blade of 6-7 inches (or even more) to work better for chopping and battoning wood. Here, a RAT RC-6 could fill the bill.

Hope that helps! :)

I'm not sure I'd call it a BOB, but I carry around a small backpack with "things that might come in handy", such as a first aid kit, fire starting kit, survival kit, basic tools, etc.. In it I have a Gerber multi-tool, a Blackjack copy of the Randal #1 with the 5" blade, and an old Grohmann Russell Survival knife. Oh, and an inexpensive CRKT folder.

And, my survival kit contains a Swiss Army Knife.

A Cold Steel Machete. Kukri 13 in. and maybe a 18 in. model.
Indestructable, cheap and can be sharpened with concrete. :D

Of these four I own, I wouldn't hesitate to use for BOB purposes. Fallkniven F1, S1, BRKT Bravo-1 or RAT RC-5.

RAT-3 and Becker Combat Bowie w/ Leatherman in sheath pocket. I'll also have a Spyderco and Victorinox Camper that I always EDC.
