Hi friends,
So I just received the new Federal flipper designed by Gus at GTC Knives. I cannot believe how well made this knife is for the price. From the packaging and wrench that is sent with the folder to the finer details in the knife itself. I'll start with my only real complaint... 440C blade steel. Not that it's an inferior steel, just that there's better steels out there and should have been used in producing a knife this fine, IMHO. I would have paid extra for it, but I digress...
The knife flips fantastically with no wrist movement needed to send the blade to full, solid, lock position. Feels like ball bearings(may be). The blade is satin finished and scary sharp with the flipper part having a bit of jimping for a positive push. Lock up is early, rock, with absolutely no play in any direction. Detent is super strong in the closed position and lends itself assistance to actuate the flip the way a knife of this caliber is suppose to. Gus should be proud of Boker for making one of his knives this nice. Did I mention the cross pattern jimping on the spine of the blade? Very well executed and useful! The handle is a fine bead blasted titanium with carbon fiber inlays both sides and looks very cool. The frame mounted pocket clip work the way it was intended and is a new favorite of mine. Nice!
I won't go on to babble much more, just check this one out for yourselves if you have the chance.
Thanks for reading...
