boker kwaiken disappointment

Just got mine in the mail today. Is this something that I can fix? Is this the detent issue people have had? What do you think about the blade centering?

Also, does the rear spacer look like it's a bit taller on the knife to protect from the blade tip? It's # 709.

If it's not fixable, it's going back. The Boker "safety seal" on the box was broken, so I may have someone's return.

Thanks for your comments ...

Here's another video showing how the tip becomes exposed by gravity and a little tapping:

Another member mentioned that his Blade HQ (orange g10) knife doesn't have this detent issue, so I'll try one of them.

The detent is not right, that's all. Get a replacement.
Mine does not do that whatsoever.

Sending this one back to Amazon; ordered a Blade HQ Orange one. Will report back on the new one.
Thanks guys.

Ok guys, the Blade HQ orange g10 one arrived today, and aside from the scales being a little dirty ... it's great. No detent bs at all. The detent is lighter than the green one, and overall the fit and finish is better.

Mine's 003/600, too. Woot.

Soon I will be:
-coloring the g10 with Rit
-flipper modding
-swedging the tip a bit to make it safer in the pocket
-acid etching the blade and frame

I'll return with pics when done.

Thanks for the feedback. Ordered one just now from BHQ. Hope to get a low Serial# as well.

Glad to hear that the problems are not coming to surface with the BladeHQ version. Perhaps the 2nd run of production kwaikens will have these issues addressed. My BladeHQ kwaiken is 034/600 and it currently resides with Kevin @ BowerBladeworks awaiting a flipper mod :D. I'll be RIT dying the scales upon its return and that should about do it.

Arriving soon. Alex strikes again. This time he picked my brain.

Since I have two one will be seriously modded to my type of knife. There will probably only be two people on these forums that like it but I will post pictures when it's finished.

Double edged, Waved, New scales

Got mine for a review and I really liked it a lot. Used it for a solid month in the kitchen/bar and on Scout trips. Unlike a few knives I've gotten to write reviews on, I've carried it a few times since finishing the review. The thumb disc took some getting use to, but after some practice I could flick it open no problem. The close to exposed tip did get me one time. After that I used a small grinder with a soft belt till the tip sat a bit further down. Since then that is a non-issue. I'm a big fan of Lucas Burnley's work, and wish I could afford one of his customs. The Boker Kwaiken is a great reproduction of his work. Looking forward to seeing the flipper version. As smooth as the regular one is, the flipper version should fly open.

I really want the original Kwaiken as I like the color of the G10. I don't care about the thumb disc issue but the exposed tip really keeps me from buying one.

Yeah, I've nicked/stabbed myself 3x already in a few days. Will be grinding the tip down, though, so it'll be fine.
