Just saw Boker Plus is adding a Rexford design in M390 and milled titanium with fancy carbon fiber scale, lockbar insert, and ball bearing pocket clip.

For $411.75.

What are everyone's thoughts on CRK prices for Boker knives? I think we've seen a lot of sporting goods store blister-pack knife companies coming out with higher-end lines - CRKT, Gerber. Spyderco has dived into the high-end production with several nice collaborations.

But... I dunno. I just can't see paying Sebenza prices for a Boker.

I’m seeing a lot of designs that catch my eye but I’ve been burned by poor quality from Boker in the past. It makes it hard to risk a serious financial outlay. Of course the quality coming from some Chinese manufacturers is hard to beat, so if Boker picks the right shop they could come out really nice.

I fear I’ll eventually break down and try their new folding Smatchet…

A Boker for four bills? Nuts.

I am at the point that I measure new knife purchases against what I already own. If the purchase will give me an improvement over what I now own, I then look at the cost in relationship to the amount of improvement.

It is getting rare that I buy a new knife.

Says its made in Europe on the bokerusa site. I'm guessing its a special edition and probably made by one of the Italian makers such as Viper or Lionsteel, etc.

I think Boker is contracting these out to a high end knife company in China.
It's kinda ironic, because if Boker just said up front that Reate is making it for them, I'd be totally OK with the retail price and reasonably confident that the quality is there, since they have a better quality reputation than Boker does.

B-B-But it is a limited edition! Only 500 made!

It also comes with a CoA and a zippered pouch!

A couple of pictures of the knife in question.

Made in Europe, designed by a popular maker and distributed by a well established company.

I don't see why they can't sell these for that price. Actually, I'm sure they will, it's a model I've looked at in the past. This price range suits me more than the $40 cheapie or $3000 custom.

If it was traditional CF rather than marble I'd be all over it.

I swear I saw it listed somewhere that it was made in China but now I can't find it at all. So I might be wrong.

According to the website it says made in Europe. However on the boker.de website they sell Reate knives.

I've purchased some very nice Boker knives. All of them German made. I bought one Boker Plus that was cheap Chinese junk and said never again. The Plus line has well earned reputation as cheap junk knives.

In my opinion, if they are looking to upscale into higher end overseas manufacture (which I applaud) they need to ditch the "Plus" branding and come up with something new.

I agree, I associate the plus symbol with their cheap Chinese products.

I recently watched this video where they talk about their plus line.

Off topic... I kinda want that tank knife.

Just bought one of these based your post.

Funny because I didn't see it at their Bladeshow booth but maybe I just missed it.

Boker Plus has its place. The Smatchet does a lot of things right, and for the right price.

That's been my experience, I stay way from any Boker that isn't from Solingen.
But I'll argue that Boker doesn't have a problem with picking the right OEM, but rather doesn't want to pay enough to build a design right.
