Book of Eli

Just saw this movie last night - it has a strong Christian / faith theme and belief running thru the entire movie. I enjoyed it quite a bit.

Denzel did a great job (and Man on Fire was an excellent film as well. The Book of Eli isn't quite as good as MoF - but not a waste of time or money).

The attractive women that travels with him in the later part of the film was a distraction. She was too beautiful to be walking around 30 years after TEOTWAWKI. Everytime she was there with her perfect hair and sunglasses it would take me out of the movie. Don't get me wrong - I enjoyed something pretty to look at. But she needed to be more Linda Hamilton in T2 than supermodel.

Go see the film. It's good.

If Hollywood gave this movie bad reviews,I'm watching it for sure. They raved about Broke back mountain, that should tell you something!

Sorry guys, apparently the Denzel Washington movie that my friend worked on isn't coming out till November.

yeah, it tells me you own it on DVD and cry yourself to sleep, watching it.

the knife just looks like a tram with some holes drilled in it. you can lash two together, spine to spine, for an ubersmatchet.

i know its hard to see but this is the best i could come up with

and then this one is a drawing but looks pretty accurate

Damn man, that third drawing makes me wish this movie was in anime. I don't know why but i grow tired of awesome effects and tireless blood taking in realism.

That machete actually has more of a bolo profile, I think it was a movie prop made by someone, or non tempered steel all together made as a movie prop.

Watching the previews, this movie looks way to hollywood. I was thinking if they took some advice from independent films, it would've looked more appealing to me. I'm really getting tired of the new hollywood fight scenes of 1 on 10. There's ways you can do it that are cool, and ways that are a bit overdone...

Flick was good, to say it is faith based is an understatement, I dig that though....wondering what type of folder he had out in front of gramma and grampas house...

I thought it was a pretty good movie, 7 out of 10. It made me want to stock up on water afterwards. :D

Just got back from seeing the flick, I thought it was really good. I read the reviews before going and didnt have my hopes up, but I would recommend it after seeing it.

I want to see it as well.

The machete looks like a cutlerycorner.net product. :D

You know what. I'm not gay, but I thought broke back mountain was a good movie about the human condition. I have to run counter to much of this thread, because I generally find similarities between movies the critics like and movies that I like, or at least have depth. I mean, I like action flicks too, but so many of them suck beyond belief and it is incredibly tiring of going through one CGI, wire-acrobat fight/battle scene to the next without any substantive character development or rational plot.

I haven't seen Book of Eli...It received less that 32% on the fresh tomato sight which is a big reason why I passed on seeing it tonight and chose to see Daybreakers instead (which got 62%). Daybreakers, wasn't the be all, end all film, but it did have something new to offer. I think I'll be waiting for Book of Eli to hit DVD and then will buy it for the 2nd hand 6.99 price. At least that is how it strikes me right now.

Maybe you guys will convince me otherwise....It won't be the ones saying they like all that crap that the critics hate. The critics have to watch a movie a day. You'd get tired of all the glam after awhile too. Just like that tired looking machete with its silly holes.

I saw "The Book of Eli" today.

It is receiving bad reveiws because it has a Christian theme. Hollywood is pretty biased against Christian anything, they are too "cool" for it.

If you took this exact same movie and replaced the Christian theme with any other theme, muslim, hinduh, buddist, anything other than a Christian theme and Hollywood and it's "critics" would be singing a different tune than they are right now.

If you haven't seen this movie yet than go see it. Do it before you accidentally hear what happens in the movie. It is one of those movies that you will always wish you could see it again for the first time.

I thought it was good I would recommend seeing it. If you are anti christian I would think you wouldn`t like it. In one scene it looked like the cord wrap on the handle was more like the ones Wally Hayes puts on many of his knives. The big knife he uses(the same one above ^) looked like a mall ninja type but plenty thick and the angle of the handle made it seem like it would be comfortable to use.

With all the production and custom blades available to the public - why oh why do they insist on going for some obscure POS to use in a movie. Are they afraid they will make a hero out of a knife [ eg-Dirty Harrys gun ] or are they just so ego maniacal that if its NIH then it cant be found ??.I do not know that blade but it sure smells like a pos .

Well if you think about it, probably 95% of the people going to see the movie, including 95% of the people involved in filming it, couldn't tell you the difference between a $5.00 knife and a $500.00 knife.

Have you ever walked by a table lined with fantasy knives at a flee market with someone who knows nothing about knives? "OH MAN!, Those are freakin' AWESOME!".

Wow. never mind that theres such a strong christian dogma in america that the sequel to the golden compass got canceled. it received bad reviews because it was a crappy post passion of the christ christian action flick. christian extremists seek persecution the way muslim extremists seek martyrdom.... jeesh

theres interesting and engrossing cinema that doesnt involve people hacking each other up with machetes. Things like trainspotting, snatch, reqium for a dream, pulp fiction. these are movie that involve violence or terrible things that are critically acclaimed because they actually have a plot and character development.
