Sorry for the crap iphone pic. GEC #47 and some Redwing Beckmans I just picked up, should break in well.

I'm jealous!
I went to the store planning on picking a pair of those up, but they didn't carry them in stock at that location. All they had was one pair of iron Rangers, but I just can't do that slick sole.
I ended up settling for a pair of 415s partly because of the over $100 difference. This is my first pair of red wings, so I figured I would just see how I like em and pick up the beckmans at a later date if I so choose.
Plus, the 415s are gonna be road pretty hard at work, which is something I'm not sure I could've done to a boot that looks as good as the beckmans.

Mine are factory 2nds and they're flawless as far as I can tell.
You can get the Iron Rangers re-soled with the Beckman half soles from Redwing for $95, or if you have a local cobbler it'll be about that much as well maybe less. Given that the Iron Ranger 2nds pop up on sale a few times a year I kinda wish I'd planned ahead and gone that route. Love the captoes.

I personally don't like the toe of the IR. That is probably the only other thing that kept me from going that rout. Well, that and after a resole I would be over $440 in the hole. Then again now that I have an idea of my size I may start looking for seconds. If I could get the IR at seconds pricing then I may be able to overlook the toe.
 
Ouch, yeah these were $200 out the door, I had some 1000 mile addisons before that I sold because I was worried about beating them up. For something near 400 I'd be getting a pair of White's boots made to my own spec.
