OK it has probably been covered already, but what is your preferred poison when out in the brush? Myself, I always used to take along 151 rum, since it packs a lot of bang for the buck, is concentrated so you don't have to carry a lot of it, acts as a wonderful antiseptic, and burns hotter than coal in satan's ass if you need it to. Others?

oo, if im at camp that would be clear morgan and some tomato juice. :D, you asked :D

other than that I dont drink while out for a hike. and camping solo its wasted space.

151 rum and/or Yukon Jack. Sometimes a good single malt.

If its a backpacking/camping trip with friends I'll usually spring for a top-shelf Scotch (Highland Park or Lagavullin) or Irish whiskey (Connemara).

Nothing for me when outdoors.

Don't want to carry it in, don't want to carry the empty out.

Used to be beer, but going with small amount of Knob Creek now. We do more with our kids nowadays and don't drink a lot anymore.

On canoe trips beer during the day. At night around the fire or in the cabin its scotch and Pale Dry Select sherry.

Peppermint schnapps in winter or Heineken in the summer if there's a cool stream to keep it in.

Campground camping? I'll drink just about anything anybody else brings!

Serious wilderness outings? I wait till after the trek to drink. There are better antiseptics and fuels than liquor. You need (I need) a focussed mind when training. Perhaps if I were out for months with an established camp, I could afford to cut loose a bit.

I don't think any less of folks who sneak a swill here or there.... but "tie one on" when in the thick stuff... and you won't see me the next day.... too risky.

I pass on alcohol in the bush. I've got a bad taste (pun!) for people who drink irresponsibly, and it seems that's a main reason for some people to go.

A lot of places where I hike, there is a lot of booze trash. Bottles, cans, boxes, sometimes half melted on a gravel bar, or floating in shallow water.

I also don't like people who don't have much self control when they drink by rivers. I've had too many idiots hassle friends and family. I've had people cliff jump within inches of our canoes trying to get us to tip. Smug people with water guns blasting as you drive by, way-to-old people hooting perversities at female youth that have been in our group. However, one good smack with a canoe paddle, or a return fire with a urine filled water gun does the trick... as long as you can paddle fast!

I'm all for drinking responsibly, but I'll do anything I can to not associate with people who abuse alcohol and the beautiful wilderness.

Bah! Now I'm angry! :D
