Booze in the bush

Irish whiskey (Connemara).

This is a wonderful selection.

I like to take a 5 oz. stainless flask with Woodford Reserve or Seagram's Canadian Rye Whiskey; depending on the season.

When folks head out of doors with an appropriate amount of alcohol, the foolishness should not rear its ugly head.

thanks commander,

hate liqour, just give me blunts and beers. (car camper)

Honesty at its best right there. :D

Car= BEER

if I have liquor it is a good rum....but usually i prefer BEER... In my opinion nothing taste better after a day of hiking than sittin around a campfire eating brats and having a few cold brews...YUM!

I try to go light

If I'm on a packing trip I take a small flask of something nice, like an Islay single malt, just for sippin'. On a canoe trip or car camping the sky's the limit. :D

Wiser's Canadian Rye Whiskey for me. And like most people here, I enjoy it around the fire at the end of a day. I'm not going out hiking to get smashed. I'm going out to enjoy nature.

Vodka for me. You can mix it with just about anything. Gatoraide, lemonade, orange juice. It is a miracle drug after a long day of tramping about the bush.

Jack Daniels for me, I enjoy a sip at the evening fire. The woods is no place to over indulge but 3 fingers in front of a nice campfire is as good as it gets. Chris

I am very pleased to see that nobody has said they prefer "coolers"... not yet anyway, lol. ;) Something about a rough-n-tumble outdoorsman sipping a Breezer just doesn't seem right, heheh.

For beer it is Grasshopper or Kokanee, Baileys or on sale Irish Cream for my milk in the morning. As far as hard stuff goes I LOVE Old Krupnik (Honey, water, cloves and cinnamon at 40%), but nobody seems to carry it any more.

Speak for yourself buddy! I mix myself pina coladas and strawberry daiquiris out in the bush all the time. It's a pain packing the freezer and blender out there, though... :p

I guess we'll know who to ask to carry the keg in which case, heheheh. :D

My current favorite is Woodford Reserve, nice small flask or some on the rocks, just to sip on. However I would not turn down any whiskey: Jameson, Makers Mark, Jack Daniels, Jim Beam, etc. ;)

Bufford,

I really like the way the bottom of a canoe or raft keeps a case of beer cool, even if you don't have an Igloo with ice in it. I also bring some brewskies so the guys can have one with lunch. Seems more like a vacation when you can have a beer with your sandwich/jerky/whatever.

Beer is made for fishing and relaxing on the water, just be careful with those cardboard cases though, if the bottom of your vessle is wet from a leak, landing fish or whatever, the cardboard goes sogging and there goes the bottom of the case.

Beer on ice in a cooler or electric coolers really rule, some of the women like mixed drinks, and they fit in the cooler too. Enjoy:)

I like the scene in the movie "The Eiger Sanction"

George Kennedy (the trainer) and Clint Eastwood (the hit-man) climb a huge rock tower out West. When they get to the top, Kennedy asks Eastwood "ya want a cold beer" and Eastwood says "a man would have to be a damn fool to carry beer all the way up here!" Kennedy replies "I know, that's why I put it in YOUR pack before we started the climb!"

as most of my camping is done with the scouts, spirits are a big no no. however the leaders are prepared to allow the older scouts to have one or two beers in the evening, so long as we're discreate about it, and our parents don't have a problem with it (shown in my case by me bringing my own). usualy this means the leaders and explorers debrief over a beer after the scouts have turned in.
my standard tipple is san miguel, a spanish export larger. fosters:barf:, stella artois and carlsberg have all featured on assorted camps.
