Boring/dull/plain looking knives?

On the gun thing, there are situations where one mechanism can fail versus the other. It's sort of like how some blade shapes or operating mechanisms might be better in some circumstances versus others.

EDC is all about preparedness. Since you don't have infinite item space on your person, you have to make choices. So you've got to think about your circumstances and how best to meet the needs that might come up for you.

Being basic or general, in terms of this thread, can be a good thing. That said, I feel like we need a carry picture including my boring old Gemini...

Example: Civivi Elementum, regular model.
It is a good looking knife but still... it's just boring.

It's like "that guy" at the office, always wearing polo shirt or sweater, only talking about job. He doesn't smoke, drink and doesn't even come to team building or Christmas party. He never got in any trouble at work or school. He drives boring car and has no hobbies. Even if he has a pet - it's something like golden retriever. Nothing in his life is spicy - not even food. You get what I mean...

There are knives like that too. They are knives. They aren't bad. They work... but there's just nothing enticing about them.
I am that guy, but unbeknownst to anyone I do enjoy spicy foods and probably do have spice in my life, but seeing as I keep a Chinese firewall between personal and professional life nobody has to or will ever know, with maybe the odd rare exception here and there. Don't judge a book by it's cover, sometimes you just gotta get added to whitelist.

I think a good example of this in knife form, at least for me, is the ubiqutious Kershaw Leek. It's the kind of evergreen pocket knife you can carry or gift without offending anyone. Just my opinion.

I’m a fan of the boring knives.
Boring People… not so much.
