Can anyone provide any info about this gun? My dad found it left behind in one of his rent houses after the renters moved out.

These marks are about the best I can find to help.

1916 Lee Enfield No.1 MK-III (Mk 3), sporterized. The "non-sporterized" one originally came with a forestock that almost reaches the muzzle. The No.4 was a MK1 or Mk2 and appeared in 1941.

Unfortunately, the magazine is missing.

The crown or royal crest over ENFIELD indicates it was made at the Royal Small Arms manufactury at Enfield.
The GR under the crown stands for George Rex (King George).
The SmLE stands for Short, Magazine, Lee-Enfield
The III* is for MK III or MK3.

Overall Lengths:
1260 mm (Lee-Enfield Mk.1)
1132 mm (SMLE No.1 Mk.3)
1129 mm (SMLE No.4 Mk.1)
1003 mm (SMLE No.5 Jungle Carbine)

Pork loin and cheese grits. When's the next Gathering?

Dunk, that looks to be a sporterized Enfield No4 to my untrained eye.

Man, finally caught up with the snark. As was mentioned in the last thread there was alot of flooding at philmont, there were two crews staying in the same campsite we were supposed to only a day earlier, and all of their stuff was washed away in the middle of the night. One day later and it would have been us, scary thought. Over all though it was a fun trip, for the most part. On day 7 of 12 I took a spill and ended up injuring my ankle, I had to hike out 10 miles to the nearest staff camp before I could get pulled of the trail, once I did they took me to hospital in raton for an x-ray where we figured out that I had a spiral fracture on my fibula. Not fun. Other than that it was a blast.

We leave Basecamp tomorrow morning and I'm already looking at coming back on another trek or even working staff

We have been getting spectacular sunsets lately and the weather geeks are saying the fires are the reason. In Kentucky.

those colors are from something else they grow in the woods of canada, eh?

I was just playing with the dog... Hit the back of my elbow on the side of a chair, at first it kind of felt like i hit my funny bone.... But now my pinky and ring finger are tingling and really numb, just on half my hand ????

last week i had "tomato chutney"...

"..if you eat the the placenta it can apparently help increase your milk production darling"

"How's about YOU eat the placenta to help increase YOUR milk production!"
