BOSS HG55. . . Yowza!!!!!

I'm gonna pass on this one. Not something I would buy at all.

Bring on Hogzilla already!!!

YOU TEASE! Looks pretty cool! Can't wait to see the tip, and maybe some other color combos...

well there is alot more Cnc time, but cutting the vertical scallops with the ball nose, keeps grinding time off the blade . More work by machine less by hand.

do those grooves {vertical scallops} serve a purpose or are they just supposed to look cool.

there's almost too much going on with that knife but i would like to see the whole thing.

Oh Yeah!!!!!! . . . . . . .

BOSSHG553.jpg

The initial edge looks to be fairly uniform and straight but with continued sharpening it could well become more serrated. It would be interesting to try that type of edge on different media....I think on flesh it would be "like a bread knife on a loaf"....deep grippy cuts....on wood though I think it might hang up....cutting nylon harness straps it would be as effective as on flesh....it would make a good "jump" knife if you had to cut away....and probably a good food prep blade as well...but as an all rounder the edge might be too serrated for wood....it will certainly make for some interesting field tests!

hmmm. i really like the looks of the handle. the vertical CBs i'm uncertain about. doesn't seem like they would serve as much purpose as the regular ones. the choil also looks really big for the length of blade. i'll have to agree on needing at least one though.

And I thought the Sus Scrofa was strange. Much too early for me to know if I like it or not. Still in shock. Definitely different. Kershaw has a folder with grooves like that.

A bit too.... tacticool for me... I'll pass...

And that's good!

Nobody outside of Bill Gates, Jaxx, and Knife Hunter can actually afford all of Jerry's little toys.

For the rest of us, there must the "picking" and the "choosing." It's quite alright ... no effect on Hog Status so far as I know. :D

If it had complete slabs (i.e. more traditional... to ricasso on top also) and the thumb grooves extended from the end of THOSE slabs to the swedge I would understand it better and more likely purchase one. Will wait and see.

Edited to add... Those thumb grooves are place where I NEVER put my thumb. Doing small chores my thumb is always over the first 1 - 2" of usable edge. Not going to question Jerry as he has said thumb ramps and thumb grooves are ALWAYS controversial and in the wrong place for some no matter what. That's just my 2 cents.

Since I'm sniveling I would also go for a significantly smaller bit for those thumb grooves too. I like the aesthetic and traction but like more contact to push on.
