BOSS HG55. . . Yowza!!!!!

Ah well...still no pics...on a side point...if this knife is .25 thick and 5.5 inches....has Jerry ever done tapered tangs? I ask because there is a common or fairly common view that the BATAC LE is a bit too heavy in the handle....and I know this knife has a different handle design...but at .25 it could still have that "wants to slip out the back of your hand" heavy feel the BATAC LE can have if held lightly on skinning deer. If these have never been done by Jerry....has Ban/Ducci ever modded a knife like this? I would be quite interested in a modded job on my BATAC LE if so.....

I doubt there would ever be a tappered tang model because of how labor intensive that would be. I do agree that the BATAC is too handle heavy. They might be able to skeletonize it under the scales though.

if it was saber and/or convex ground it might help push the balance forward more. it would be cool if they did something like a tapered tang. i know Ban has done it to at least one AK and an FBM

I HOPE the new updated HG 55 (btw...what does that stand for and is that pic floating around in this thread the actual HG55?) is in the response to those of us who have been asking for minimal ricasso/no choil on shorter knives. I know I have put in my 2 cents on this more than my share of the time.

That pattern would be sweet with no choil and that edge brought way back. At 1/4" that would be an impressive mid-sized knife.

I can't wait to see pics

Jerry's going to post the pics during the 4th quarter of the Super Bowl.

Ah, I am saddened to return from work, and see that still, there are no photos.:(

Yes....the choil on the BATAC seems unneccessary when the balance point is so far back in the handle...a choke grip makes the blalnce on the knife worse...but on the RMD it works fine....now if this knife could just be as blanaced as a RMD....a RMD Infi has been a "Holy Grail" idea for many for a long time.....maybe in these recession times Jerry can "deliver" on some of these "sure things"....

I would be suprised at a knife without a choil....but it makes "perfect sense" in this size....

OK! yes if weather is bad up north then I guess we just set back and wait and think, and drink and hope! for PICS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They will come sooner or later, and we will be waiting to lust at them. Standing by!!!
